| 29.16% | Yes | |
| 70.83% | No |
Comment: It's unconscienable and a giant slap in the face to those veterans who have served their nation and put their lives on the line to support our constitution. This is a no-brainer-what has happened to our nation's common sense? Why do we as a nation, allow our officials in effect, to condone lying, cheating and stealing? We have lost our honor as a nation if we continue to allow people to make a mockery of the ideals of good citizenship. If anyone wants a medal they need to put their lives on the line like our brave heroes. Better yet let's put him on the front lines in Afghanistan and offer him the opportunity to try to earn a medal(there are no guarantees you will be awarded a medal) if he is brave enough. from Niceville by Lynn
Comment: I believe it is protected. Not necessarily right but that's not the issue. Besides, if it was a crime to lie, a large majority of our elected officials would be guilty. from Pensacola, FL by Mike
Comment: is the government honestly trying to moniter what we say now? i mean enough is enough, concentrate on the problems at hand!! from pensacola/florida by mike
Comment: 'No harm', he can lie about receiving the award, but can't profit from it. I can lie and say I can sing like a bird, but when I start singing your ears will be harmed. by Nona
Comment: A U.S. government sanctioned lie law - why not - look at our goverment- they do it all the time.Just in more educated articulation. And you wonder who feeds deceit , dishonesty and thievery.Friggin low life bums are running the United States- thank you Xavier Alvarez - you should run for President of the United States! You forced our government without the idiots knowing to to condone breaking a sworn oath to protect with honor.Xavier Alvarez..you are dog shit! from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: I don't think it should be protected, same point n time, Bill Clinton got away with it. It's not "ROCKET SCIENCE". from daphne Al. by Elmo
Comment: I do not condon the act of lying, but how many of us have not told a lie once or twice during our tenure on this planet? People lie in the military! People in the civilian sector exaggerate (lie) on their resumes to get a particular job! People lie that they support and uphold the U.S. Constitution, until an event occurs that they don't like. Lying has to be a protected form of "freedom of speech" unless it a willful intent to cause physical or emotional harm to someone for an offense or crime that they did not commit. from Navarre/Fl by HB
Comment: This is ridiculous from Pensacola, Fl by Sandra
Comment: Anyone who has been raised properly knows - lying is wrong! Whenever a lie is compounded, it ALWAYS gets further and further from the truth. Today, we can no longer rely on people with common sense being able to spot the truth, so it is more critical than ever that we all learn to tell the truth. Lying about earning of military decorations does belittle those actual recipients and cheapens the circumstances under which they "earned their decorations with distinction". I am a military retiree, and I think I know what I am talking about. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: If cops and politicians can legally lie to us, then it should work the other way around as well. Either Rule of Law, or no law at all. But I think it's a low life move to claim a Hero's valor that you didn't earn yourself. from Cantonment, Fl. by Jeff
Comment: I think you should be held accountable for ones lies. we should start with politicians from Obama down for every lie they have told..but that will never happen because we as a nation are ok with lies, no one seems to care anymore.. from Pensacola by Jim
Comment: If this holds up how is it the Governor from Illonois that was selling Obama's seat can be tried for lieing to the FBI.Does it only protect certain lies or all lies.ONLY in AMERICA ! from pace by Robert
Comment: Were going on a witch hunt!!!! Hasn't history taught us something. People lie all the time. If we start to prosecute all lies everyone would be in jail. from Pensacola/Florida by Mary
Comment: It worked for Bill Clinton when he testified before Congress and he WAS President of the United States. from Pensacola by Oscar
Comment: all lies are just that and should not be accepted. from jay, fl by susan
Comment: I don't think any lie... no matter how big or small should be protected under free speech even if a crime was not committed. Only truthful facts or statements should be protected by free speech rather than the ones that are completely false or made up. This persons lie is a disgrace to the men and women who served and honestly earned their medals. This court ruling is absurd and goes to show that our Country's justice system is falling apart and these 3 incompetent justices in my opinion, should be removed from the bench. from Pensacola, FL by Gil
Comment: Truth should always be the way to go. Lies should not be allowed. from pensacola,fl by gregory d
Comment: uhmmm...are those idiots looking to change the 14th amendment going to looking into changing the 1st amendment? from pcola fl by h
