Comment: I feel it is a slap in the face to the victums. I would not expect the Germans to errect a swastika at one of the concentration camps in Polland. It stinks. from Pensacola / FL by Bill
Comment: Islam has nothing to do with 9/11. Just because the high jackers were Muslim doesn't mean that everyone in that religion hates the US. That's punishing people that had nothing to do with the attacks. Don't we have religious freedom? from Mobile, Al by Danyelle
Comment: I think it is a slap in the face to those Died in the Sept. 11 attack. If they want to build a mosque, they should build it in their home land not ours!!!!!!!!!! from Valparaiso, Fl. by Art
Comment: These Muslims know we are very sensitive to anything Muslim after 9/11. They should have enough sensitivity to realize that most Americans do not want a mosque built by even possibly nonviolent Muslims anywhere near the 9/11 site. The funding is suspect. The Imam thinks the U.S. needs some sharia law and may be connected to terroists sources. They always wander around the question of why they are doing this and where the funds are coming from. They are wrong to do this. from Pensacola by Lee
Comment: We learned all we need to know about Muslims on 9/11/2001 from Pensacola, Fl. by Frank
Comment: not only no, but HELL NO. what a slap in the face that would be to the people and their families killed up in NY from Muslim driven planes. Why not ask the people in the Pentagon how they would like a mosque built 2 blocks away from them. from pensacola by georgia
Comment: Bitter pill to swallow--MY son has served in Iraq as a Marine took an oath to protect the Constitution of the United State--one section being relief of religious persecusion from Cantonment Fl by Jack
Comment: I voted no but will change my vote to yes as soon as the Muslims allow a Baptist Church to be built in Mecca. from Pensacola, Fl by Oscar
Comment: Difficult question. I can readily understand both sides, especially since 9/11. However, this country was founded on religious freedom. Does that include a mosque at ground zero? Tough call. from Gulf Breeze/FL by Don
Comment: Hell NO! Muslins are our enemy, they want to take over the country and our President is doing everything that he can to help them This will be nothing more than a training ground for terrorists. from FL by William
Comment: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! and a million more NOS! It is NOT "OK" to build a mosque near the site of the 9/11 attacks! Thousands of innocent Americans were KILLED in that attack on our country. If the Muslims want a mosque, let them go back to their own countries and build them by the millions. We DON'T WANT them here in our country. Building a mosque ANYWHERE near that site is disrespectful to the memories of those people and their loved ones and friends. It is a SLAP IN THE FACE of decent people in this country. If these people respected the Americans, they would not even suggest such a thing. from Pensacola,FL by Mary Ann
Comment: I don't agree with it but we are supposed to live in a free country. If they have the money let them build it.There is nothing saying you can't buy the property across the street and open a barbecue shop. from pensacola by sam
Comment: No I don't think it's okay to build a Mosque near the site because it's just honoring the people who are responsible for killing Americans. It's not right! It's disrepectful! from Milton, FL by Karen
Comment: It's simply an insult to the lives that were lost. NO from Pensacola by D
Comment: i think it is a disgrace to build a mosque anywhere near ground zero!!! from pensacola florida by victoria
Comment: Political correctness has taken away our dignity. It's too bad today's politicians don't have the guts to draw a line in the sand that our enemies don't dare cross. from Pensacola, FL by Steve
Comment: No, I do not think it is okay to build a mosque so close to Ground Zero. The Muslim culture is known for building mosques in areas they have "conquered". I take this act of building the mosque so close to Ground Zero as an insult to the victims of the 911 attack. Why do Americans think they have to be so TOLERANT of everything and everyone??? from Pensacola/FL by Janet
Comment: We must show respect for the memory 911 victims. Even if they tear this building down, NYC should not allow a visible Mosque and it's Dome within picturesque sight of the People's Sacred 911 Memorial. It's too much... too soon. Left as is their Freedom of religion is not interrupted as it can continue as it has in it's unassuming glory, and quelled from making all who served into a mockery. God Bless America. from Navarre, FL by Julie
Comment: Go ahead America and "bow" to the PC crap and let them build the mosque..pretty soon we will all be bowing to the east if America doesn't wake up & soon. from Crestview, Fl by Audrey
Comment: No mosque. from Milton, FL by Dan
Comment: Why would that be ok. That would be like saying we are going to honor yall for tearing us apart on that tragic day. Those poor families everytime they go by their it will hurt them so bad. I think there should have been a historic memorial or something built there. from Pace by Donna
Comment: I think we need to encourage more Muslims to move to America. Eventually, they won't be discriminated against if enough of them move here. That way we can really practice diversity .... from Yak,AL by Muhammod
Comment: The Iman of the Mosque is a radical Islam Muslin. He would celebrate the terrorists as Martyrs from Pensacola Beach by Chuck
Comment: We as soldiers fought hard for rights and freedoms we all in AMERICA enjoy each day we wake. Many gave their lives for these freedoms. In this great AMERICA freedom of religion without religous persecution is one of those. As an AMERICAN can anyone (but a politician with his or her hand out)blast this freedom and call them selves AMERICAN. The anti-defamation league has just defamed all REAL AMERICANS , their familys who have lost loved ones for this fouhgt for freedom to not persecute with thier small minds and greedy hands. There are developers lurking in the background and the politicians and the anti-defamation types have a lot of $$$ to gain. The Landmarks Preservation Comm.,has their hand out also. They are sick. The problem that has been taking place in AMERICA is we fight politicians and the like every day in courts to keep those freedoms. If there $$$ in it you will find a politician roach about. from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: Absolutely not. This is just another step they are taking to try to take over this great CHRISTIAN Nation. from Mobile, Al by V.C.
Comment: do you think they would let a Christian Church build ,on or next to a shrine of theries ?? I think not thies people swore to wipe us all out .Rember 9/11 ???? from pensacola fl. by james
Comment: It not only flies in the face of 9/11 victims, but is an insertion of sharia law in defiance of our constitutional liberties and protections. Muslims have always erected mosques at the site of their conquests and this is no exception. from Cantonment FL by Mike
Comment: We should build a mosque at Ground Zero, as soon as a church is built in Baghdad. from pensacola/fl by bill
Comment: Absolutely not. Totally inappropriate. There are way better places to build a Mosque. Who ever thought of that one, Osama BenLaden? from Pensacola FL by Pam
Comment: What is this country coming to??? We can't build a synagogue or church in muslim countries. They shouldn't be able to build a mosque here especially not at ground zero. from Perdido Key FL by Terri
Comment: Let them build they damn mosqe. White christian is a thing of the past. This a new world let people be free. Minister Farakhan right black muslims will rule this country and spred the money more fair. by Darnell
Comment: it's not ok, this is america, i don't feel that a mosque should be built anywhere in the u.s.a. from pensacola, fla by brenda
Comment: Bloomberg is a politician and follows his own agenda. Since New York City covers a huge area, it must have an excess of buildings that could qualify as historic landmarks. The Preservation Commission seemed to feel this one was undeserving of the designation. A 13-story Islamic "Ground Zero mosque" would provide those inside a view of what many consider to be sacred ground. There is no way to assure that terrorist money would not be used in the construction of the center or that the building would not house terrorist activities. Under these unique circumstances, I believe the City of New York would be better served if an alternative location was selected. Moslems connected with the mosque could demonstrate respect and concern for the victims of the attack, their friends and families, and everyone in our nation who was affected by the cowardly actions of the heinous degenerates that infamous day by dropping their plans to build in that location. There must be many less controversial locations where building a “cultural center” or Mosque would not create the furor this one has. Does anyone believe that they are unaware of the ill will and anger created by their plans? And yet, they are determined to have it their way. This is yet another instance of the few imposing their will over the wishes of the majority. from Jay, Florida by Barbara
Comment: This is America, the right to worship is not based on location. from Navarre, FL by Roy
Comment: After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941, I do not recall them wanting to build a Japanese temple near tomb of those Sailors and Marines. Why is it so important that they place such an ironic symbol on hallowed ground in New York City. If it is the purpose for healing wounds then they should listen to the voice of reason and that of the people, build it elsewhere. This is only bringing up old wounds! from Pensacola by John
Comment: Honestly, no! With that said, let me emphasize that I do believe in our First Amendment, and in the free and tolerant practice of religion; but I think that a mosque so close to "hallowed grounds" -- made that way by Islamic terrorists is in very bad taste. Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I am somewhat familiar with the 'lay of the land' so to speak: I say that there is plenty of other space in NYC that can accomodate the mosque. Ground Zero is now and forever more WILL BE CONSECRATED ground, particularly by true New Yorkers. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: Islam is celebrated by building mosques at sites of great victory; this is a fact. Read about islamic conquests during battles and jihads and you will see a pattern and facts that prove this. That they now want to build one at ground zero should be a slap in the fact of all Americans. Shame on the NYC officials involved who have not educated themselves on the true reason mosques are constructed in the first place. from Pensacola, FL by Margie
Comment: This is an insult to all who died on these sacred ground and all those fighting to make sure such monsterous things never happens in this country again. from Orange Beach,Al by Claudia
Comment: NO I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS, THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS NEAR GROUND ZERO, THE MUSLIMS ARE THE REASON THERE IS A GROUND ZERO AND NO MORE TRADE CENTER from Cantonment fl. by Karen
Comment: I say NO... But I might change my way of thinking if Turkey or other countries in that area would let the USA build churches of all religion in their major cities....Robert from niceville fl by robert
