Comment: I feel it should have been triple the 16.4 million. They need to feel some pain over this cover up. from Gulf Shores, AL by John
Comment: I hope some of the money goes to the families that were not informed of the dangers and to everyone else who has a Toyota whether or not they have experienced a problem or not it has cause hugh anxietys. Toyota along with other corporations feel they can not be touch and for most parts I feel at times are not held responsible for their neglegence. from Navarre Fl by Laurie
Comment: Yes, it is adequate. Today's vehicles, from all manufacturers are very complex - including a number of on-board electronic systems. I believe that all of the manufacturers strive to achieve six sigma quality, but their will still be errors. I don't believe that Toyota should be penalized more from the government. As a note, I have never owned a Toyota. The marketplace will take care of them - or any other major manufacturer that has extensive quality problems. from Pensacola / FL by Rick
Comment: How does giving the government money ( and where does that money go) help the people whp lost lives and devalued $$$ for those cars and trucks. As long as the govenrment lines thier pockets is all that really matters it seems. Shameful from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: the penalty is appropriate. from p'cola fl by h
Comment: As far as a slap on the wrist goes, the fine comes close. As a former Toyota driver/owner myself, I don't know why the corporation wasn't denied doing business within the United States for say 5 years or so. As to Americans losing jobs, because of foreign auto makers making cars and parts here in America - Oh well, gotta hate your luck; maybe a five year ban would wake up these unionized 'drones' and have them realize that peoples' lives depend upon their craftsmanship (or lack of it). I cannot feel sorry for any punishment metered out to them. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: Get government out of the car business and let people vote with their feet.3969cb4 from Ft. Walton Beach FL by Roger
Comment: Considering the low number of incidents compared to the number of Toyota's sold, I think Toyota has done a remarkable job of handling the issue. I would not hesitate to buy a new Toyota. from Milton, florida by Ruby
Comment: How does one put a dollar amount of crooked companys. 16,000,000 is pocket change to Toyota and a slap in the face to American consumers who have loved ones lost or maimed in wrecks that these crooks KNOWINGLY caused. I was in the market for a new truck. This was a no brainer for me to buy a Nissan Titan over the Tundra. Not to mention the over rated price of a Toyota Tundra period! from Pensacola,Fl by Will
Comment: The feds should prohibit all foreign automakers from selling cars in Amerika. They are unfair competition for Government Motors Corp. Amerikans should be forced to buy Amerikan products, even if the quality sucks. Go Obama '12 !!! from East Hill by Mike
Comment: as far as the buyers, it is (you get what you pay for) you should have got a FORD from jay fla by david
