Comment: You have got tobe kidding me! The city didn't even have the money to put up Christmas lights in the downtown area. from Cantonment,FL by Tamara
Comment: Too high, Good Quality Candidates should be there for better reasons than just money. That says something about their character. from Pace, FL by Mike
Comment: $50,000 maximum salary. This area does not support that high of salary. from Pensacola, Fl by George
Comment: absolutely not! I do believe that $23,000 is too low but the position should not pay more than $40,000.
Comment: A mayor is a figurehead. It is a position. Ask youself who is on the charter review commision who has the most to benefit. Let the city manager keep doing it and give him an extra 10 grand a year and its a win win for everyone. A mayor is eyecandy ,a suit, a face who does not do anything. At least the city manager does something you can get a value for. I will do the job and sport and jiggle change in my pocket for 23k a year. from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: sounds about right for a town this size...but then again, people who "defend" the huge salaries of the officers of companies that accepted the bailout money have no right to complain about the mayors salary... from p'cola fl by h
Comment: If the people want more taxes then this is the way to go. Somebody has to pay for all this extra money. from Pensacola by Leonard
Comment: Let me preface my answer by stating I do not live in Escambia County; with that being said, I am against the concept of any (repeat ANY) politician (elected or appointed) making a six or more figure income, just because he/she is a politician: my opinion is that they should show that they have earned it. What about the countless 'sleps' that are working at or just above minimum wage - for their entire working life? Is it fair for the 'working class' to be punished for keeping this country running? The politicians only spew out IDEAS (which more often than not DO NOT WORK), so why should they get exhorbatant salaries from the day they take office? Federal politicians are the ones we should be miffed at. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: That's $40,000 too much!!! $60,000 is a decent pay check! by James
Comment: In the land of the 8.00/hour job that salary is a little too much , when folks around here are struggling to pay electric bills. I think his salary should be what the average hourly wage is here in Pensacola. from pensacola,Florida by Curtis
Comment: $100,000 salary for a Mayor is way to low. It is embarrassing! Who would even consider the job of "strong Mayor" for that kind of money? from FL by carol
Comment: Before we pay for a strong mayor, his strength should be tested. Perhaps he should be strong enough to bench press 300 pounds. He job will certainly require a lot of political pushing! from Pensacola by Warren
Comment: no he doesnt do anything,, its a waist. by brittany
