Sunrail Funding: Do you support the state spending $775-million on the Sunrail system?
| 12.5% | Yes | |
| 87.5% | No |
Comment: Sure is a lot of money being approved for a state as Florida that is bankrupt. Florida is a tax burden state and proud of it. Spending tax dollars and creating new taxes to justify blowing money. What a con. from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: Absolutly not. Our schools are forced to let good teachers go and laying off support workers due to the State's cuts in Education money so why not spend the money on our future, our children, not on a rail system we do not need or want? from Crestview,FL by Roy
Comment: It makes NO sense. What purpose does it serve for us to spend that kind of money on something most won't ever use. from Pensacola by Al
Comment: I voted against it in the elections. I'm still against it. I can't beleive the majaority of North West Floridians voted for it. from Pace by Tom
Comment: I would love to see more rail systems but isn't it funny how "they" quote a price (in this case $775 Million) but that quote ALWAYS multiplies like rabbits. Besides, to spend that much for the short trip between Tampa and Orlando seem wasteful and down right stupid. I say NO! find a better way to spend tax dollars that would benefit the greater Florida populace. from Pace, FL by Rita
Comment: Another unbelievably stupid way to waste taxpayer money. I thought we went through this fiasco a couple of years ago. from Cantonment, Fl. by William
Comment: It is a luxury when we need basics. from Pensacola by E
Comment: Pay off our debts before incurring more. from Gulf Breeze, Fl by Mary
Comment: Does any of this really matter they do what they want when they want no matter what we Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from Pensacola by Fla Citizen
Comment: as long as we get fed. money to help support the state...i'm for it! besides...it might just lower the cost of the airlines because of the competition... from p'cola fl by h
Comment: Albeit a 'lofty concept', that's exactly what it is. We've got people homeless and hungry (some through no fault of their own) in this state; and the best thing our esteemed legislators could come up with is piss away the money on a rail system that would only benefit those who live in the immediate areas of the system. I.E., How does this expenditure benefit ANY single resident of the Florida panhandle? IT DOESN'T. Come on elected representatives, put the money into something that would be beneficial to everyone in this state. How many homeless shelters could $775 million dollars build; how many hungry citizens could that money feed? Use your heads for something beside hatracks. from Mary Esther, Fl. by Tom
Comment: this will help both communities to grow jobs-a national bullet train is needed from Pensacola by JOHN
Comment: Not only NO But HELL NO! Where are we going to get the money from? Let me quess. TAXES! from Ft Walton Beach
Comment: Not everyone would be able to see their money used. Take the same money and rebuild the Amtrak system with stops in a loop from P'cola to the east to the south in Miami and then across to Fort Meyers up the coast to Tampa and back to P'Cola. from FWB, FL by Jon
Comment: Call me goofy, but it seems that the only people this Sunrail system will really benefit seems to be the CEO's of the theme parks in Orlando and Tampa. Could it be that these CEO's greased the palm of the govenor just to "make it easy" for visitors to visit both parks during their vacation time. Just food for thought, especially when so much money is going to one small area of the state compared to the money being spent. from Pace, FL by Rita
Comment: What a waste! Spend that money where it is REALLY needed..Pay off the USA DEBT!! from Fort Walton Beach by Cindy
Comment: It is a stupid, huge waste of taxpayer money. Now is not the time to take on projects that are more like Disneyland dream events. from Cantonment, FL by Carolyn
