Citizens Insurance: Do you support another rate increase for Citizens Insurance?

29.16% Yes
70.83% No

Comment: I want to know why a public option and national health care is socialistic and government funding of beach restoration, flood insurance, and homeowners insurance in high risk areas is not socialism. I really believe more good will come of everyone having access to health care is more important than replacing condos, homes, etc that have been built where they shouldn't have been built in the first place. The idea that people don't see the total hypocrisy in this is ludicrous. from Pensacola, Fl by John

Comment: Yes. I support a rate increase for Citizens. My insurance premiums went up. However, the state is charging me and all other policy holders a fee to help pay for Citizens claims. This is WRONG. I doubt that the state would access Citizens policy holders to help pay for State Farm claims Yes Citizens needs to pay it's own way from Cantonment by Lou

Comment: My insurance has doubled since 2005, and I have absolutely no heartburn with the Citizens increase. As a matter of fact, I am quite tired of paying recoupments for people who choose to live in risky locations. I say a 100% increase is in order. from Milton Florida by Frank

Comment: NO they should not be allowed another rate hike. We have already been hit with a major increase for vehicle registration and drivers license. We haven't had a hurricane since Ivan. So the question is what has Citizens been doing with the money they have been getting since then? This is why individuals are moving out of Florida. from Mary Esther, FL by Alan

Comment: this would be hard to handle remember so many people in our town are out of work, My husband passed away and I am just hanging on this is just so wrong. My insurance went up 1000.00 is that just dandy.we have never flooded since we live on a hill. from Pensacola, FL. by Brenda

Comment: Citizens is already undercharging customers, and the taxpayers will have to pick up the burden. I have already been taxed hundreds of dollars to cover their losses through my insurance company. The Citezens fiasco would bankrupt the state if we got hit by a major hurricane!! from Shalimar, FL by Heather

Comment: Since I have homeowners and car insurance in Florida, my insurance company charges me a fee that they must pay Citizens Insurance Company, even though I have no policy with Citizens. If something happened to my property or car I cannot contact Citizens for help. Every Florida citizen that has property and/or car insurance does the same. How is lawfull that we must pay an insurance company we have no policy with? from Pacer, FL by Al

Comment: Hell no. Kick them out of the state. Insurance is nothing more than legalized extortion...you pay us inflated fees and you'd better not be late with the payments, but when it comes time to pay out a claim, we'll stall, give you pennies on the dollar of your property's worth and threaten to cancel you if you make even one claim. Let them crumble like any other scam. from Cantonment, Fl. by Jeff

Comment: I believe that Florida Residents are already getting every penny they make taken from them with the increases in DL and Vehicle Tags. Now an increase in Insurance. With the ecomony the way it is how can anyone approve any type of increase? Maybe that is why Floridians are moving out to other states. from Ft. Walton Bch, FL by Duane
