Southwest Airlines: Do you think Pensacola still has a chance to lure Southwest Airlines?

22.72% Yes
77.27% No

Comment: Short and sweet... In the past 60 years certain groups in Pensacola has demonstrated they dont have the ability to attract squat. Look @ Mobile,LA,Milton,etc... Lets just stick to building high power paying eatery joints to employ kitchen help and waitresses . This just proves it. More power to Panama City. from Pensacola,Fl by Flower

Comment: no Pensacola has nothing to offer or anything to attract them from gb by t

Comment: Pensacola does not have the what it takes for SWA to come here, look the Maritime Park is still being haggled over, the people here are still in try to get out of the 18th century. no here can make any decision.....SWA would never want to serve here.... from pensacola by Jim

Comment: For years Escambia County's elected officials have sat on their hands and done nothing to improve the county in the job industry department and wonder why we are one of the poorest counties in the state. Now they drop the ball on the Southwest airline deal. I am not saying they are solely responsible, but honestly all local elected officials need to be removed from office and lets start over, Escambia County is suffering from poor decision making at all levels by its elected officials. from Pensacola Florida by James

Comment: Of Course they could, just Change the airport name to the Pensacola Northwest Florida Gallactical Spaceport! from Destin by Ron

Comment: Pensacola is too small town minded and big airline players see this! from Pensacola by Robert

Comment: If SW is smart they will stay away from Pensacola because of the corruption and greed of it city and county leaders. from Pensacola/Florida by Kevin

Comment: Heck no, lets build about 200 more Tom Thumb stores here that pay billions of $$$ to its employees each week on their paychecks so they can keep investing in the stock markets to keep us afloat. Born in Pensacola 59 years ago and each year I am more ashamed of the crap this tourist trap generates. I think perhaps we need to put Pensacola up for sale to Mobile as for some strange reason they can make industry count and have the grit to attract industry and not Tom Thumbs and McDonalds and the like from Pensacola,FL by Winnie

Comment: Today's announcement by Southwest Airlines is corporate greed at its best. Southwest sought to create a bidding war throughtout NW Florida and not to provide the most strategic service to the Gulf Coast. In an effort to maintain the monopoly on... low fare carriers, SWA made an agreement with private business which shuts out competition for service for 3 years. Corporate greed and not the people's needs won out. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Paul

Comment: It doesn't fit the SWA growth patterns. They won't come here as long as AirTran is serving Pensacola. from Pensacola, FL by J.

Comment: If Pensacola does not continue to market itself aggressively, including to Southwest Airlines, it takes itself out of the running for economic growth. This is a no-brainer. Southwest would bring significant additional business (private and public revenues) to the area. We need them more than they need us at this point. That's a disadvantage, but doesn't mean we should quit. from Pensacola / FL by Rick
