Comment: As a member of the Krewe of Warriors, I know first hand how much money participants already pay. Besides our annual dues, we purchase all of our own give-aways which on average is $1,000 a year to cover all parades. That doesn't count the multiple fundrasers that we hold and pay for out of our member's pockets. The City of Pensacola is complaining about $80,000? Perhaps they can ask the County to help out. Give the people something to do to bring up thier spirits in these trying times, or the people will find other things to do with thier time, not always in a positive manner, especially if they are displeased with their city officials! Funding of parades (though a generous gesture) means that the money going to frivilous activities, could be otherwise spent toward a necessity of life. Comment: Foreclosures, unemployment, poverty levels, I would believe there are other things the taxpayers could pay for with $80k than a parade. How about fund raisers?

Comment: Thousands of dollars are being cut from education and emergency services and we're worried about funding parades? I'd rather have a couple of more teachers on staff or two more EMS crews on the road than fund another chance for people to get drunk in public and act stupid.

Comment: The Christmas Parade is the only venue that has all the local bands, out-of town bands, balloons, plus the Blue Angels. There are over 3000 kids and youth involved with just this one parade.
