New Auto Standards: Do you agree with the government's new rules on car and truck emissions?
| 43.75% | Yes | |
| 50% | No |
Comment: Absolutely not!! For starters, your numbers do not agree with the numbers the administration itself estimated. They say it will add $1300. It is really the principle of the thing that gets me, the same group of wacko's who now tell us we are causing global warming was running around saying we were bring on the next ice age in the 70's. It's time for the federal government to get out of our lives. from Milton by Jim
Comment: No. Don't you remember the gas we were going to save by the 55 MPH speed limit in the 1970s? It did no good and saved no gasoline. Neither will this. Will the President and other officials give up their limos and other big cars? No. Will they give up their private jets. Make the jets get 35 MPG? No, of course not. What is good for us is not good for the government officials. Don't be fooled by this latest garbage - it is all another hoax like global warming is. from Pensacola, Fl by Oscar
Comment: What I want to know is this -- when we can't even AFFORD to look at a New Car (and the price is out of reach for the average American) .. how is this supposed to "HELP" at all? This additional $600 (which will NOT be recouped at the pump -- for, let's face it -- fuel prices are rising again (along with rumblings of increased Taxes for Mileage on top of increases in taxes per gallon)), It just ensures that there are many (like myself) who will be doing what we can to try to make our vehicles last as LONG as possible. I can't even think of looking at the price of a new car to replace my OLD sedan .. even though it is costing me quite a bit to just keep it running. from Crestview by R
Comment: Technology for fuel economy has been available and shelved for years by the auto industry.New cars with better fuel mileage shouldn't cost more. The resources are already in place.Wake up people. from Milton,Florida by Gerald
Comment: its about time America has caught up with the rest of the world! these knuckleheads around here driving around in their SUV's, Sports cars, and oversize trucks (maybe personal ego problem? low self esteem?) are the main contributors to the greenhouse emissions and the higher gas prices (thus causes higher dependency on foreign oil!) since the public has not learned their lesson from last year, the oil crisis of the 70's, and concern for global warming...maybe it is in the best interest of ALL the citizens of this world to mandate requirements to these selfish people! from p'cola fl by h
Comment: The government does not need to tell us "everything" we can and can not do. Too much!! from Fort Walton Beach FL by Sylvia
Comment: By the time the rules become effective, we could be looking at 4-5 dollar a gallon gas. Regardless of what is instituted, the economy will dictate whether or not it was good for the comsumer and good for the environment. If we can't get the economy on the right track, all else will fail. from Pensacola by Robert
Comment: We have more inmportant issues at hand in the U.S. than a tail pile emission issue. from Pensacola,FL by D
Comment: Yes, I agree with the new rules and regs; but the real test is yet to come. By the real test, I mean that "it's a long way from paper to reality" When I see it happen and the American public accept it without reservations, that is when I will believe it. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
