Health Care Reform: Would you pay higher taxes so that every American could have guaranteed health insurance?
| 28.07% | Yes | |
| 71.92% | No |
Comment: No, if anyone does the research into other developed countries that have universal health care, their care is substandard, involves long wait times for critical interventions, and do nothing regarding prevention. Billions of dollars are spent on preventable disease, I would not want to pay higher taxes to support someone that ended up needing long term care for smoking or drinking habit. EVERY person in the US can enter an emergency room and get free health care. from Navarre FL by James
Comment: No. I already pay enough taxes to support people who won't work. They want the government to give them everything free, while I am penalized for working. from Pace, FL by Sandra
Comment: Absolutely not!! The last thing we need is the government in the health care business. What do you suppose they would use for their business model, the US Postal Service, or maybe AMTRAC?!!There are other options that will not drag us deeper into socialism. from Milton by Jim
Comment: Self care is an individuals responsibility, except in extreme cases. To pay taxes for those who do not wish to work/contribute to society is socialism and not the type of government I wish to live under. Self responsibility is becoming a lost commodity in America. from Loxley by Bob
Comment: I've worked my whole life from age 15 to secure my future. I have arrived and resent those who in there earlier life were dedicated to indifference, govt support and corner pleas for help. I resent that my foresight and safrifices or pleasure now have to support the stupid "citizens" that were indifferent to their future. from pensacola, fl. by Matt
Comment: It's sad that we live in the richest country in the world and yet there are so many without health care. I am one of them. I work yet cant afford health insurance because its to expensive!!!! Do I pay for health care or do I pay the mortgage? Its a shame! from Pensacola, FL by Teresa
Comment: I believe my answer says it all. from Pensacola by Thomas
Comment: No way! Get the economy going again and go for the fair tax. Enough tax would created for all med care if the fair tax was enacted! from Milton FL by Tom
Comment: Plain and Simple!!!!It seem to me Doctor,s are makeing a killing, why cant Doctors lower there fee,s on everything from gulfbreeze fl by paul
Comment: definitely not! we're getting closer and closer to socialism.
Comment: I have provided insurance for my family. It is a choice that has to be made take czre of your family or spend on less important things from Baker Fl by Kendall
Comment: Definitely not. It would lower the quality of care. I took steps to make sure I had health care, I do not want to pay for anyone elses health care. It is along the same lines as welfare. This would make individuals more dependent on government, people need to get off their lazy butts and earn their own money and health care. This is another gimmick by the liberals....!!!!!!!!!!!!1 from Pensacola, fl by tom
Comment: I can poo in a box and guarantee it. Show us proof before the taxation happens. from Pensacola by Spud
Comment: Before I pay higher taxes, everyone who abuses the system should be made to pay from Crestview/FL by Ana
Comment: I think it is better to have doctors compete for your business then to be forced to see whomever the government says they have to. I don't believe the government should take taxes from our paychecks either-- If I had that money added back in I could afford my own insurance!! from Milton Florida by Radonna
Comment: Absolutely not. We veterans and other patriots sacrificed so much to preserve democracy. We did not do so, just to let political candidates switch to socialism to fufill promises during his campaign. from Milton by Abe
Comment: We already pay taxes that cover indigent people. Its called "higher cost" for people who pay insurance and are fortunate enough to be able to afford it. The asprin costs $3.00 for those in the hospital who dont have insurance and those who do..it cost $10.00 for that same asprin. The hospital big wheels have priced out medical to people by gouging many things and prices such as a simple asprin.Bandaids, dressings, gauze etc...they hide it under "miscellaneous " charges. from Pensacola,FL by D
Comment: this is long overdue! the way it is here in this country, the only people who can afford healthcare are those who can afford it! it is borderline criminal for the government to let its people go without healthcare...and the citizens here have the audacity to point fingers at other nations about "human-rights" violations? i just don't see the need to pay higher taxes when the nation can make a cut backs on military spending and consolidating federal government agencies(like why do we need separate agencies like the cia, nsa, and fbi when they can be done under one agency?) from p'cola fl by h
Comment: Many other countries have it and they are doing just fine. You can't afford to be without health care insurance. from Pensacola, FL by Dorothy
Comment: Yes. I don't understand why we haven't gone to this type of system years ago. Then again, understanding politics as it DOESN'T WORK in this nation, I can see why. My point is that I have lived under socialized medicine, and have seen that it does work. Think of the possibilities: not having to delay surgery because you can't afford it; not buying required medication because you can't afford it; not being able to choose the least expensive doctor. Bottom line is that everyone will receive EQUAL medical coverage and those in the medical profession will be in it to "heal" and not to get themselves rich. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: I work hard just like many people do in America. I chose a job that offered benefits and that is how I chose my career field. I knew that i would need something that would provide a job that would have good benefits. I pay $110 dollars every two weeks from my paycheck and I dont want to pay more to cover someone else. by donna
Comment: YES, but only if there is no co-pay, we can visit any physician we want and insurance pays all physician, hospital and testing fees. We pay nothing out of our pockets. from Niceville/FL by Regenia
Comment: none from crestview, fl by sunny
Comment: Your health care is not my responsibility. I have paid for my health care and my family's all my life, and intend to for the rest of my life. Non tax paying citizens are already getting a free ride at us tax paying citizens already. from pensacola fl by jim
Comment: I am willing to pay higher taxes if the insurance was handled by the government and not individual states. The problem is that I feel there would be more doctors refusing to accept the insurance because they would have to negotiate payment and not many doctors are willing to loose the chance of overcharging and getting richer at our expense. from Navarre by Ernest
Comment: People would pay higher taxes, but lower insurance cost,or NO insurance. from robertsdale,al by mike
Comment: I see no responsibility mentioned for those receiving free health care. There should be certain constraints and requirements to receive free health care. I've always provided for mine and my families health care by working for many decades. If some requirements were to be required, I might change my mind. from Niceville, FL by John
Comment: I have mixed feelings, I have struggled for years working 3 jobs at once just to pay rent and bills. I've asked for help and have been turned down from the State and now I was injured and pink slipped and have no insurance and still can't get help. So unfortunately I can't afford more money out to help others when I have never been able to get help and I've always worked! from Santa Rosa, FL by Laurie
Comment: Those of us who work are already funding healthcare, daycare, and other "advantages" earned by taxpaying citizens. We need to get back to taking care of own-meaning families take care of their own- not me taking care of other families. from crestview, fl by K
Comment: You should only ask people who actually PAY significant taxes. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Gordon
Comment: It's past time for a universal health care system in the U.S. from Pensacola by Bill
Comment: No, because we are already taxed to death. My husband and I have worked all our lives for good insurance--we have it...thank goodness, let the other people work and pay for theirs too. from pensacola by georgia
Comment: Even though I have paid a lot of taxes over the years, I think we definitely need to do something about making health care available to everyone no matter their financial situation. I am now in that situation with needing health care and not being able to work. It's very difficult to save up to get the healthcare needed. from Pensacola,Fl by Mary
Comment: I dont think we should have to pay higher taxes for health insurance. All these mega corporations that received billions of our tax dollars in bail out money should pay for OUR health insurance. We BAILED them out..let them bail US out.. from Pensacola,FL by Lisa
Comment: with this swine flu crises you need every person with access to health care or we all will be in trouble from navarre florida by lamar
Comment: Yes, national health care just like Canada! Who are you kidding, the wealthy medical system/doctors/drug companies will never let it happen!!!!!! from Pensacola by Jon
Comment: We NEED government sponsored health coverage. Private insurance is already rationing health care. It is appalling that all Americans are not covered for health care, not only medical, but dental too. Since 28 percent of my retirement income is going to my Medicare Supplemental coverage, everyone paying a little more in taxes may actually bring an increase in my net income. This does not include my Medicare premiums. The economic stability and national security of this nation depend on revamping and guaranteeing equitable health care for all Americans. by casey
Comment: Are you kidding me? I already fund the Welfare programs that I can't use. Why should I fund a universal health care program that will ultimately lead to lower quality of health care. from Pensacola/FL by Dorrian
