Teen Drivers: Do you think it's a good idea to put a special decal on the car of teen drivers?
| 46.34% | Yes | |
| 53.65% | No |
Comment: I am a teenager and I believe this is a horrible idea. Police and other law enforcement agencies would target teenagers on the road that make small mistakes. Experience is the one thing that makes a person's driving better. from Brewton, AL by Spinks
Comment: instead of decals paint the rear bumbers yellow. by mike
Comment: I completely disagree with this idea. I see more 30-40 year old adults on the side of the road after a car accident than I do teenagers. Many teenagers are scared to drive wrecklessly and are much safer than some adults. I am only 20 myself and I know very people my age that have been in accidents. But their parents and aunts and uncles have been. It just doesn't make sense. If the person has been in charged with wreckless driving, excessive speeding or any dangerous driving could be considered for a decal. But don't assume all teenagers are going to be bad drivers. from Pensacola, FL by Niki
Comment: The State should weigh the benefits of requiring snowbirds & summer tourists to have one as well. from Destin, FL by Marty
Comment: Are you insane. With roughly 600+ sex offenders in Escambia county, why would you even consider putting a potential bullseye on someone like that? That is not to say that all sex offenders are still threats to society, but for those that may be, even if it is just one, why would you put Escambias teens in that potential volatile situation. You hear stories of people acting like cops pulling over their victims. Why not just send them a list of people. from Bay Minette, AL by Ryan
Comment: If you are going to do this then you need to put a sticker on all senior citizens cars. from Crestview, FL by Rhonda
Comment: There should be a warning and it could be a pennant on a flag pole on the rear deck visible from all angles rather than a bumper decal which would only be visible to the car following the under 25 driver. from FWB, FL by Ray
Comment: I think it would be a better idea to decal all drivers who drive drunk, speed, cause accidents, or are ticketed for reckless driving. If I missed something just add it for me. Bottom line: decal the guilty not the innocent. from Milton, FL by James
Comment: If we do this then lets put a decal on cars with drivers convicted of DUI, DUI results in alot of deaths, oh and how about seniors, they contribute to alot of deaths, where does it stop? from Pensacola, Fl by Don
Comment: Why? If these decals cause other motorists to avoid driving around them, how are teens supposed to adjust to normal driving conditions and get better? And why stop there? Elderly drivers are responsible for plenty of auto accidents, as are drunken drivers. It seems irrational and unfair to pigeonhole teens. from Pensacola, FL by Adam
Comment: I think it is a wonderful idea. I also thought making pink license plates for convicted child crimes was also a awsome idea. They should both be required to idntify both front and back of their vehicles. from Shalimar, Fl by April
Comment: I guess this is another pipe dream miricle cure. Safe drivers dont cause wrecks...teens or anyone. Some ones getting kickback from PR on this one. Police will not be sitting on the side of the road exclusivly waiting on that " little rectangle sticker on a tag"Another wasted tact of trying to control what you never will. Teen immaturity and adult stupidity.Hey...lets give teens coupons to shop at dairy queen..thats sure to make all perfect in the world. from Pensacola,Fl by D
Comment: They are only teens for so long. Then what do you do for all the other dangerous (distracted, drunk) drivers. I think you should make all of them go through drivers safety courses. from Pensacola/FL by Donald
Comment: If the person, no matter the age, but is above the minimum, who takes and passes all of the tests should receive their drivers license. As they may access multiple family cars, I believe 'tagging' them is a bad form or discrimination. The better approach, like with many things, is to simply enforce the laws for learner's licenses and 16- and 17-year old operator's licenses. Oh, one more thing - we should demand an intelligence test for any adult that acquires a new car for a driver aged 15-18. If the adult cannot pass a selected minimum, they should lose their driving privileges. from Pensacola / Florida by Rick
Comment: good its about time! from p'cola fl by h
Comment: When a studyting for my driver's licence (in another state), I had a "Student Driver" sticker that we put on the rear window. It helps other drivers to drive more defensively around a young, unskilled motorist. from Pensacola, FL by Faith
Comment: Teen drivers have just as many rights as every other driver. Why should they be 'called out'. Should we be putting special decals on the elder generations plates as well? They cause a lot of accidents also. I think it's discrimination against young people.
Comment: I think its a great idea. Matter of fact I think that the state of Florida should do it too. Stop the teen deaths from Milton FLORIDA by Timothy
Comment: Yes I do; and while we're at it, let's add decals or special license plates to all cars of convicted drunk drivers. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: I have a teenager and I would put one on there car so people would know they are on the road.some kids are good drivers and some are not. from niceville by melissa
Comment: yes, yes, yes, yes and add the elderly to that too. from crestview, fl by sunny
Comment: no it points out there young for any pervert, and with the drive by shootings and crime its just saying go get them, they dont point out drunks with dui's yet. from pensacola fl by pamela
Comment: Why would I want to advertise to every possible pervert on the road that this is a teenager alone!!!! I shudder to think of all those kids put in unnessary danger!!! from pensacola,fl by belinda
Comment: what might be better would be to have the computer chip turn the engine off, if a cell phone turns on in the car. from cantonment,fl by ole
Comment: Slippery Slope issue...will we be tagging cars of old people? It also makes them an easy target for people like the fake unmarked policeman. from Pace by Michelle
Comment: Has anyone stopped to think that this could make our teens a target for predators? The traffic laws are the laws, if ANYONE is exhibiting careless driving, they are subject to being pulled over and ticketed. As a mother of an older teen female driver, I do not want her to be a target. from Gulf Breeze by Nancy
Comment: I think that decals identifying teen drivers is an excellant idea. A lot of teens are against this idea, simply because teens often feel that police officers will single them out and harrass them. Actually, unless a teen is doing something extremely wreckless, a lot of police officers are more likely to let a teen off the hook, not wanting to tarnish their records at such a young age. I heard where one teen even suggested decals for "guilty" drivers, such as wreckless, and drunk drivers. To that I say, no need for a decal, simply take their licenses. Remember, "Driving is a priveledge, not a right". How about let's try saving some lives, instead of worry about who might feel like they're being singled out, or picked on. Let's get some decals. from Pensacola, Fl by David
Comment: this is a really dumb idea. i am a teen driver and i just think this will put more attention on us and will make us more nervous behind the wheel. if you think we had enough crashes then, now see how many we will have? from Pensacola by Kierstin
Comment: I think it is a great idea. As a mom of a 16 year old I would love this. from Crestview by Michele
Comment: I think it is a good idea IF it would help reduce the number of teen accidents. They need all the help they can get while learning to drive safely. from Crestview, FL by Ernest R.
Comment: Anything we can do to protect them from themselves. from ft walton bch. fl by phyllis
