| 64.44% | Yes | |
| 35.55% | No |
Comment: Environmentalist wackos are a bill of goods themselves. We could save whatever we'd lose on tourism by cutting funding to the global warming scaremongering of the public education system. Maybe those funds could be diverted to a literacy program instead. from Pensacola,FL by Faith
Comment: Oil drilling spills less oil than already seeps out from the ocean floor. You want gas... drill for oil. Vote no? Take a bus. from Pensacola, FL by Joe
Comment: Yes I believe they should allow offshore drilling. It would bring jobs and funds to the area with more individuals coming to fish them. from Mary Esther, FL by Alan
Comment: More drilling is like giving more alcohol to an alcoholic. It will not solve any problems. It will only create more problems. If you want a preview, go to Fort Morgan and see what the seascape will look like. from Pensacola, Fl by John
Comment: Yes, I support drilling in our area. from Laurel Hill, Fl by V.
Comment: We have to much at stake to let them drill offshore. It is always about the money. We need to seek other fuels as the priority. Lets erect Windmills along the windy coast to generate electricity for the electric cars!!!!!! WOW.... NICE LOOKING WITH NO ENVIROMENTAL DAMAGE.... from Pensacola by Debra
Comment: Not no but hell no. We are blessed with a beautiful area and if we let oil companies destroy for greed it would be a sin against our children. Shouldn't we be trying to get away from oil and find a better way to fuel our cars? There are better ways than oil and we have the technology now. Quit believing the lies of oil companies who only care about money. from Pensacola/FL by Karen
Comment: If you don't like the idea of drilling for oil off florida's coast, then put your car keys away and walk to work! from Gulf Breeze, Florida by Neil
Comment: The self-produced oil is badly needed, assuming we can own internal combustion engines when the wacko now in power hit high gear.
Comment: It is coming down to either State Incoem Tax (now unconstitutional) or drilling... we need revenue now and in the future... tourism is a fading memory... we are now in the 21st century and need to figure out how to pay for what we have in Florida!!! from Milton by Robert
Comment: Why not, we have built up the beaches for all the snow birds with juke joints and such. If we try hard enough we can sink the island with all the trash that Pensacola thinks produces good jobs. Im not talking about being a friggen waitress to amuse the idiots who think Pensacola Beach is a status symbol. from Pensacola,FL by D
Comment: Florida has the most beautiful beaches in the world - why jeopardize our gratest asset? from FWB, FL by Sandy
Comment: I don't think polluting our beautiful shoreline or the view is worth it. The oil companies are making enough profits without taking what I love most about Florida. from Pensacola by Keith
Comment: THE BEACHES HAVE ALREADY BEEN RUINRD FOR THE LOCAL PEOPLE. NAS PENSACOLA SHOULD BE CLOSED AND BUILD A MODERN OIL REFINERY THERE. from PENSACOLA by BOB
Comment: Oil platforms won't be seen from the coast nor will oil wash up on our beaches. Offshore drilling is safe. That there were no oil spills from hurricane Katrina proved it. from Navarre. FL by Mort
Comment: Let's preserve something for our children. It is futile to cling to drill baby drill, when we all should know by now that we will never be able to drill our way out of the fact that we need to look at alternative fuels, and cleaner fuels. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Lori
Comment: no has cris sold us out to.with all the other low life around here.cant you all see. that money put in the right pocket. can get you allyou wont. or out of it. from mary esther by george
Comment: Absolutely! from Shalimar, Florida by Lona
Comment: 1. Compared to the many super tankers passing closely, risk is much less. 2. Excelent fish habitat within close reach. 3. Royalties to the state may equal a "tobacco settlement" annualy. from Pace,FL by Robert
Comment: sure i'm for it! it will get much needed jobs here in the state that is not a lowly paid tourist industry job. environmental concerns...i'm not so much worried because of advanced technology to minimize it...as long as the snobs that live on the beach have to see the rigs and deal with the pollution.... from p'cola fl by h
Comment: Our elected officials have fought the oil companies in Washington on this and it was banned for numerous years. It will harm our beaches. There goes the Florida Republican Party looking to screw up something else or is it just not being able to function wihin their means or just simple greed. from Navarre, Fl. by C J
Comment: china is already doing it dangeriuosly close anyway why not have our nation profit before it is used up.I think it could profide jobs and i think american's should be the ones to do it.I realize there needs to be alot of caution to avoid leaks and spills but we are capable of being professional. from ft.walton fl by m
Comment: If we make the mistake of drilling in the Gulf we will be jeopardizing the economy of our state. Without tourism we will lose jobs for waitresses, busboys, bartenders, dishwashers, housekeepers, managers, condo owners, hotel owners, the list goes on and on. The trickle down effect will leave Florida without any way to have enough money to keep the state going. Our natural resources will be destroyed by oil. And once oil companies get in somewhere it's very difficult to get them out. from Pensacola/FL by Karen
Comment: I strongly oppose offshore drilling and exploration. The use of fossil fuel has degraded the health of our planet. Entire ecosystems have been damaged or destroyed. Land and marine wildlife have payed the ultimate price for our greed. Earth is speaking, we should listen. from Pensacola by Julie
Comment: Yes, we need to explore and develop those oil fields available to us until such time as alternative energy is abundant and able to replace fossil fuels. Keeping the dollar at home and not sending to the Middle East for oil payments would aid in our economic recovery immensely. from Loxley, AL by Bob
Comment: We would be risking a serious disruption of Florida fisheries, oil spills. Pollution is increased because crews on oil platforms, ships servicing them throw waste overboard, leak oil and fuel. It simply is not a good idea! from Milton, FL by Mary Ellen
Comment: Yes, we must do everything we can to cut our dependency on foreign sources. We have a 20-30 year need for more oil and gas. We have the technology to explore and deliver safely, without damaging the environment. This is not the 1950s, it's almost 2010. Wind, solar, and nuclear can certainly be harnessed, but they are minor energy sources for the next decade. Of the 3, nuclear has the most promise, but it will have to fight the media and various lobbying groups who are buried in the past and false premises. from Pensacola / Florida by Rick
Comment: Could mess up environmment from Gulf Breeze, FL by Gordon
Comment: Newer technologies have made drilling and exploration much safer than in the past. from Pensacola / Florida by Donald
