Pensacola Hockey: Do you support the return of professional hockey to Pensacola?

78.57% Yes
21.42% No

Comment: More events are happening now without the hockey team there. Keep the Ice Pilots wherever they are now. from Pensacola, FL by Scott

Comment: Hockey in Pensacola is about more than a hockey game--many who have never attended a game have benefitted from the charities that hockey supports. from Pensacola, FL by Shirley

Comment: Can't wait to get hockey back. Winter has been boring. Let me know when season tickets go on sale. I'll be in line to get 6 of them from Pensacola, FL by Mary Jane

Comment: I think that professional sports has a place in our area. Hockey, baseball, and basketball can all be strong minor league franchises - but they are businesses and should pay their way. I did attend 3-4 Ice Pilots games a year - and would do so again. from Pensacola / Fl by Rick

Comment: Yes. Yes. Yes. In the past with a terrible owner we still had several thousand season ticket holders. And SMG insisted they could produce a profit if they were "unburdoned" of having to schedule around hockey. Since then we have not see the "influx" of new shows, and we have lost public skating, and we have not seen the promised profit. I think we should try again. With better ownership not taking the team to Orlando as a cash cow but as a member of our community to stay. ICE HOCKEY PENSACOLA from Pensacola by Abby

Comment: Yes. We need to bring hockey back to Pensacola. The Civic Center is just sitting there and not being used, so using it for hockey is better than nothing. You can't run and operate the civic center with several concerts every year and with boat shows and job expos. from Pensacola,FL by Doug

Comment: I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM COME BACK TO THE CIVIC CENTER from GULF BREEZE FLA by REGINA

Comment: YES I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE THEM COME BACK TO PLAY AT THE CIVIC CENTER. WE REALLY MISS THEM PLAYING HOCKEY HERE. from gulf breeze fla by martin

Comment: Absolutely NOT!! from Pensacola, FL by Karen

Comment: I definitely support them. I've just moved from Jacksonville, and very unhappy moving here and not having any sports to support here. I have heard this area is only looking at the beach tourism. Well, I am ready to move on back to the east where I can enjoy more then just a beach. Especially when in the hockey season, the weather is too cool for the beach. What about pursuing a real baseball semi pro like the Suns of Jax too. Get with the program Pensacola, everyone is going west, MOBILE, NEW ORLEANS ETC , or East to Orlando, or Jacksonville. from Pace,FL by Sherry

Comment: With Tim Kerr as owner, our team will be competitive and exciting to watch. Hockey will be cheapest the entertainment in town. There are many intangible benefits. from Pensacola by Jim

Comment: Mostly northerners actually go to the games, because there is no way for the locals to mimick the players like up north with their winter sports. from Pensacola by Robert

Comment: How about some more entertainment in the Civic Center? from Pensacola by Robert

Comment: I would love to have hockey here in Pensacola again. That is my favorite entertainment. from Cantonment, FL by Tina

Comment: Hockey brings people downtown in a family atmosphere.I feel the Pelicans and a potential hockey team are wonderful for the area as it gets people out in a positive environment. When people attend these events they spend money; not only at the venues, but also at the neighboring resturants. I hope they can work something out and that we as a community go out and support them. from Pensacola/FL by Jamie

Comment: We need more family fun events to go to, we have the Pelicans in summer, we need something fum in winter. :-) from G.B. FL by L.

Comment: I think smg is the problem they do not know how to run the civic center. because hockey is what saved the civic center from going under and if we can average 4000 a game it well start to pay for it self again. from Pensacola Fl. by Lawrence

Comment: Most definitely! Not only good cheap entertainment but the area businesses would get a much needed boost. Add a rivalry element and you will have pretty good hockey. from Milton, Fl by Bill

Comment: An SPHL team would not be as expensive and would still provide the area with a unique past time. It would also open up the ice once more for our local skaters (figure skating, adult and junior hockey, and public skating). Twelve years of ice has become a tradition that we need to stick with. Not everyone enjoys baseball. from Pensacola, Florida by Julie

Comment: How can you have a return for what we never had.Pro Hockey. The civic center is a white elephant, just like the equestrian center on Mobile Hiway. from Pensacola,FL by D

Comment: PLease bring hockey back from Pensacola,Florida by Stephen

Comment: Bringing a hockey team back to Pensacola is a waste of resources. Why not concentrate on bringing a variety of options to the area, like concerts and festivals...things you normally have to go to Biloxi or New Orleans for. from Milton, FL by Leslie

Comment: hockey did not work before, it will definately not work now...unless the population of this area grows and more good paying jobs are more available (i.e. "the quality of life" the commissioners are often referring to...), this area will never be able to support any sort of professional sports. (people around here want something cheap or free like high school or local college sports...they cannot ever be accounted to be season ticket buyers to a professional sports teams...ever wonder why the fair is popular around here? because it is cheap...) from p'cola fl by h

Comment: Please, PLEASE bring back hockey to Pensacola!!!! from Crestview, FL by Philip

Comment: THE COUNTY NEEDS TO GET SOMETHING BACK HERE TO SAVE TO ECONOMY HERE. I AM NOT SURE HOCKEY WILL DO IT. THE LAST FEW SEASON WERE SO BAD THE FAN WERE GIVING UP. I WORKED AT THE CIVIC CENTER AND WATCHED ATTENDANCE LOWER. from P,COLA FL by SCOTT

Comment: It's a great/cheap hobby! from Fort Walton Beach by Kristen

Comment: yep by Bubba

Comment: Yes because this is one of the best outting events that bring positive community support. I go to as many game as I can. Love the sport. BRING IT BACK Please !!!!!!!! from pensacola, florida by bryan

Comment: Please bring back hockey to the area! from Mobile, AL by Jonathan

Comment: i definetly think hockey should come back because i have played hockey all my lifeand want to go watch a game thats not on tv from gulfbreezeFL by alex

Comment: I would love to see the pilots come back. great intertainment bargin. from Ft. Walton Beach by Colin

Comment: Please bring Hockey back. we used to attend all the way from Niceville. Niceville had a large fan base from Niceville by Edward

Comment: Please bring Hockey back. we used to attend all the way from Niceville. wE both hve Pilot shirts from Niceville by Cindy

Comment: I am a big fan and hope they can make a comeback BUT the fans have to support it and they will only do that if you put a good product on the ice. Ice Pilots did that for the first few seasons then it was downhill. Hope they will e back for another try. from Niceville by Alan

Comment: When I came to the area 7 years ago, the city had many sporting venues to offer. Now our only choice is spring/summer baseball. It is a loss of revenue for Pensacola as a whole. Please bring ice hockey back to Pensacola! from Pensacola, FL by Katina

Comment: We need to quit playing games and building tourist traps and bring jobs of industry to Pensacola. Perhaps the bafoons who want the hockey back will know it created no jobs. Oh wait...perhaps all the men and woman @ the PNJ loosing their jobs can get a job selling hot dogs and pop corn there...and kick a ton of thier "earnings" into the stock market .You wanna play ball but not take care of the people here in this rat hole city I have lived for 60 years that really used to be a real city. Perhaps the peons in charge will have a croaker throwing contest next. from Pensacola by G

Comment: My family and I would love to see hockey(at any level} return to Pensacola. from Pensacola.Fla by Ronnie

Comment: een a fan for the whole time the ice pilots were her and all we ever heatd was the civic center was losing money and how much they could make with the 36 dates the ice pilots used.seems to me that was a lie.haven't seen the center crammed with venues sincew then. This is great family fun and entertainment and brings people form out of twon to the area to spend money. wouldn't that help our economy.pensacola needs this type of family fun and all it brings with it from gulf breeze by Michael

Comment: Grew up in ND watching Hockey. It was kind of a reminder of home being able to watch it where I live now. from Milton, FL by Michael

Comment: If it can't support it's own way WHY SHOULD TAX DOLLARS SUPPORT IT? byMe

Comment: I most definitely would support a hockey team here again. I was a 12 year season ticket holder with the pilots and during the "early years" we traveled on Good Time Tours busses all across the I10 and even to Kelly Cup playoffs in Virginia. With a knowledgable coach, dedicated owner like Tim, and the loyal hockey fans here, I think it will be very good for the economy in Pensacola. from Cantonment FL by Sandy

Comment: Yes..but would like to see possibly an arena football or a semi-pro basketball team as well. from Navarre, FL by Darryl

Comment: Our family moved to Pensacola because of the quality of life. Hockey was the deciding factor. My kids grew up playing hockey here in Pensacola. When the team was destroyed by poor management we were all devastated. We plan to move to Huntsville where hockey thrives this fall. Hockey could change our plans.!!! from Pensacola, FL by Lisa

Comment: What are we doing with the expensive hockey equipment that somehow we all paid for? What is the civic center doing? For the sake of creating a cause for both of those and the opportunity to see some toothless Canadians knock each other around: BRING BACK HOCKEY! from Pensacola, FL by Todd

Comment: love hockey bring it on from pensacola,fl by JAMES

Comment: It is one of the very few things we had to enjoy. It makes more sence than to just let it stand empty most of the time. from Pensacola Florida by Marsha

Comment: I did and will continue to support hockey in Pensacola. from Pensacola, FL by Danette

Comment: Comissioners say a quality of life is the question. Again, scrambling for popcorn money for revenues. My God help us . We have used "Quality of life" to hide who the hecks on the hook for the bill. WE ARE!!! from Pensacola,FL. by K
