| 34.14% | Yes | |
| 65.85% | No |
Comment: I feel that if your going to have a 90 day tax free period for the auto industry you will have to have it across the board for all retail business. I work in a high end electronics business and could use a boost in our business also. from Navarre Fl by Keith
Comment: we need to lower everything. not just car taxes from PACE FL by LARRY
Comment: Yes IF AND ONLY IF at least 80 % of the labor and material has been derived from sources in the 50 states. from FWB, FL by Ray
Comment: florida is in a budjet crisis. A tax holiday would only make the state financial situation worse because the revenue would have be made up from pensacola fl by charles
Comment: And the benefit would be what? More cuts in essential services for all? If they want more sales, they have to cut their prices further. from Navarre/FL by Sakora
Comment: Real smart-people loosing houses-jobs--AND CARS- no place to live and we are going to "jump start " Pensacolas economy by a "new car sales tax" to the homless and unemployed??? There is a "car salesman" who came up with this pipe dream. Peopl dont buy cars or trucks as THEY HAVE NO EMPLOYMENT--NOT BECAUSE OF TAX.PLEEEEASE, THIS IS UNSULTING! from Pensacola/FL by D
Comment: Yes. The "special treatment" serves the public more than the car industry. The return to auto loan interest tax write-off is a good idea. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Don
Comment: I DON'T FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD GIVE A TAX BREAK FOR 90 DAYSAS IT IS NOT A TAX BREAK FOR ALL PEOPLE. I JUST BOUGHT A CAR 2 MONTHS AGO, WILL I GET MY TAXES BACK (NO) SO WHY SHOULD OTHERS GET THERE CARS WITH NO TAXES. THANKS PS WHERE IS MAXIMA. from PACE,FL. by TONY
Comment: Unfortunetly, It sounds good in theory, but it pretty much just gives those that aren't hurting financially another oportunity to save, while those that are seriously feeling the economical hit can't afford to take advantage such a deal. Maybe you could do a survey of how many people have lost their jobs in different income brackets and then compare that to those who actually do partake of the automobile tax break. from Milton by K-lyn
Comment: Is this robbing Peter nto npay Paul? Can we afford to give up the taxes? from pensacola by pat
Comment: No, the state is already suffering from a shortfall of income. It does not make sense to help out car salesmen when students, teachers, elderly, and many others are having to make do with less. from Mary Esther, FL by Susi
Comment: Yes car tax holiday would help provided dealers donot jack up the prices. But better idea would be for FEDs to give us a tax rebate of 5,000.00 for a new car purchase instead of giving it to the GM. This would induce lots of people like me to replace (Like my 2004 model Minivan.) their old cars. from Pensacola, FL by Phil
Comment: At a time when the state budget has billions in shortfalls, when Teachers, Police, Firemen etc. are being laid off, to even consider a sales tax holiday is sheer idiocy. from Gulf Breeze, Fl 32563 by Gordon
Comment: A sales tax hoilday would work great for me. I've been thinking of buying a new car, but, with the world we live in have been putting it off. This might just be the thing to put me in the I'm gonna buy coloum. from Gulf Breeze, Fl by Darlene
Comment: Good idea, helps the consumer and the dealer while every dollar counts. from Milton, Fl by Bobby
Comment: I know I would go buy a car if that was the case. from Pensacola, FL by Britt
Comment: a tax holiday for the state? no! the state needs all the money it can get to keep the service they have now. now the tax write off on the interest for federal tax...yes! especially the the banks and car makers who have taken the bailout money. as right now, any interest one pays to a business that extended out a loan, should be a tax write off. i would like to add to the old saying "death, taxes and shady greedy business people are not avoidable in life!" from p'cola fl by h
Comment: In this time of huge budget shortfalls they want to have a tax holiday for what is essentially a luxury item? Whose taxes will get raised to make up the increased shortfall? Home owners, of course. from Pensacola by Dave
Comment: No way, if the car dealerships really want to make a sale let them lower the price equal to the sales tax. The only people to lose in this are the taxpayers, we already have enough budget shortfalls. from Milton, FL by Pat
Comment: No, the auto industry has had several breaks. If we give a tax break here we will have to pay it some other way. from Milton, Fl by Sandy
Comment: Why is it so hard for the goverment to understand that if there is no money for the people, No Jobs, No income. HOW CAN you get a loan for a car! If the people are given money then the people can spend money. from Lillian, Alabama by Tammi
Comment: As a repeat new car buyer maybe these dealers should think about how they treat you in both sales and after the sale service.Poor sales are not 100% the economy's fault! from pensacola by brian
Comment: I agree that a tax holiday will benefit the consumer and the dealers, I doubt a 6% savings is going to make that much difference to the buying decision of most buyers. The reason I disagree with the holiday idea is the greater negative impact it will have on State and local economies with the reduced revenue. I think the negative impact will be greater than the positive. from Navarre by Bill
Comment: Most of us who would like to buy a new car [or newer], cann't afford to or, at least feel this isn't the time to add a monthly credit payment to an already tight budget. I don't see saving 7 1/2% as making any significant difference. The bigger difference would be in the loss income to the state. from Pensacola by Ron
Comment: makes a whole lot more since than passing out stimulus money to the dealers..it will get other services moving as well. do it i will buy.. from pensacola by jim
Comment: If they are going to do a car sales tax holiday, offer the sales tax holiday ONLY on cars that get 30 mpg or better or on "green" hybrids only. from Pensacola FL by Roselyn
Comment: I don't think that the people that are still able to purchase a new car need the help. What will help the ones that can't afford but need a newer car. Let's help all car buyers not just new car buyers. from Pensacola by William
Comment: It's a bad idea for several reasons, least of which, there aren't enough people buying new cars to put a dent in the economic crisis---even if car sales were at under wholesale. A tax moritorium will not convince people to buy new when they don't want to. from Mary Esther, Fl. by Tom
