Comment: I guess, when BRAC comes around and closes Eglin, then we'll find out how rich the people of Valparaiso is. Aircraft noise is a daily occurence everywhere in the panhandle but, this is a case of biting the hand that feeds you. Hey, the law firm doesn't care, they are getting paid for this, out of local taxes. from Milton, Fl by Abe
Comment: I'm just wondering what the people and esp the businesses in Valpariso would do if the BRAC committe did close EglinAFB down? I'll bet the town would go broke and/or collapse economically. Then the people would be hollering - bring them back!!! Evidently Valpariso's people don't appreciate the Air Force very much. from pensacola, fl by georgia
Comment: Another great mistake by a
local government. All proper-
ty owners in Valparaiso knew
of the proximaty of the base
when they purchased their homes. It is reasonably cer-
tain that they are aware of
Eglin's contribution to the
economic health of the area.
Do not kill of the "goose that
laid the golden egg". The
noise generated by the F-35 is
the sound of freedom just as
much as the peal of the Liberty Bell. from Pensacola, Florida by Robin
Comment: Sounds like the city is trying to bite the hand that feeds them. The Eglin complex has been there before the city and is the reason there is a city there. If you don't like the sound of freedom, MOVE. from Milton FL by John
Comment: If people choose to live near an airport or Air Force base, they ought to know there will be noise. What bothers me is that these people vote. from Milton/FL by T
Comment: All this people are totally blind. They will also be the first in line to get handouts when the Air Force moves the entire base out west. Biting off their nose to spite their face.... from Gulf Breeze, FL by Don
Comment: While the city does have a right to request information about the F-35 they have to realize that the information they are requesting is probably tied up with some classified and other security related informaion. It may be that it is taking longer to get the information because the AF can't just send a cleark to copy it. I am sure that the Air Force is very concerned about working with the areas that their bases are located and are trying to comply with the city's request. However it would seem that they could be a little more PR minded. I would also think that the city could cut a little slack . It's an air base - there is going to be noise. from Pensacola by Jen
Comment: The military has done nothing but good things for the entire area. Just another unjustidied complaint, be careful what you wish for... from Crestview Fl by John
Comment: Obviously AF bases will have a higher oise level than other neighboring areas. It's not always in the best interest of our military and/or homeland security for the public to know everything. The noise associated with the JSF should be over-looked due to Eglin's new and growing role in the militqary world. If it's too loud, don't choose to live near a military installation. I live on Elgin AFB and "Jet noise is the sound of freedom." from Eglin AFB, FL by Julie
Comment: Get ear plugs or move to Russia or China. The price of freedom and protection is worth a little noise. I've lived very close to the flight line before..you'll get used to it and won't even here it. Besides, there are much more pressing items on the USA agenda right now!
Thanks for the opportunity to share my three cents for whatever they are worth.

Comment: What they are doing is biting the hand that feeds them. from Pensacola,Fl by Pam
Comment: this is our military -- if you don't like it, MOVE. from pensacola, fl by denise
Comment: A request made only a month ago ignores one simple reality -- like it or not, FOIA requests usually take longer than 30 days to process. Val-P is most definitely entitled to impact info, but one thing that everyone should be able to agree on (because it's so patently obvious) is that if an area doesn't demonstrate economic benefit, community support, & solidarity, then someplace else is going to reap the benefits.
That's not defense of either the USAF or the amount of time required to process FOIA requests, it's just reality, plain & simple. from Shalimar FL by Bill
Comment: There are specific requirements for an FOIA request and the Air Force will honor such requests if they are properly submitted and do not violate the FOIA itself...if the AF has refused this request, it is for legal reasons and the AG should realize that. I would ask the Attorney General what the costs are for pursuing this litigation and what he/she thinks the benefits would be. from Navarre/FL by James
Comment: I have seen many of these situation, where the home owners purchase property next to Airports and Military Bases, then sue them for damage to their properties or various reasons.
The problem is them.
They sue causing the lost of their jobs & income, if they had purchase properties away from the air-field. Then there would be no problems. This has happen in L.A. Airport,Ca., Oceana Naval Air Station,Va., Jacksonville Naval Station, Fl., and is now happening to Pensacola's Airport. These residental infringement on the Airports or air field destroys their economial base.
This has also closed the Navy's only Bombing range near Roosevelt Road Naval Base, resulting Eglin being the only testing range on the East Coast. What do they want to get rid of the Military, and their pay checks. This is the case in most of these situations. The only ones that make out is the lawyers. from Pensacola, Fl by Joseph F.
Comment: Its wrong. Lot of money has been spent already on this project not to mention the jobs already. If the Air Force moves the Strike Fighter to another location look at the millions of dollars already spent at Eglin and the number of jobs terminated. Let FREEDOM FLY from Mary Esther, FL by Alan
Comment: Complain now and you will complain later. The USAF has base cuts that are constantly evaluated. Maybe next time they'll decide to move to a different location and take ALL OF THOSE JOBS WITH THEM. Suck it up or move. I live close enough to the bases to hear the exercises. I accept the fact that I moved here by choice. You have the choice to stay OR MOVE. If you choose to stay, STOP COMPLAINING! from Navarre, FL by Mark
