Same sex marriage: Do you believe an amendment banning gay marriage belongs in the Florida constitution?
Comment: I think that all people should be able to marry who they love! And if that includes a man and man or a woman and woman then so be it! No one can help who they love and noone should be able to tell them otherwise! from Eglin AFB/FL by Brooke
Comment: Marriage as defined in the bible is between a man and a woman. There is no room for any other type of "marriage" in our society. from pensacola/fl
Comment: God intended for man and woman to be joined together as man and wife only. Man shall leave his father and mother and be joined with his wife forever. from Pensacola, Fl by Martha
Comment: Yes. The next big fad will be marrying your dog or ferret. And WEAR will be there to cover it! from Pcola by Mike
Comment: The amendment is required. It is sad but necessary, because, we have to define what the word "is" is nowdays. from Milton, Fl by Jim
Comment: Leave people live their own lives. Even God tells us we are not to judge others lest we be judged. As far as Gay Marriage runining the state of marriage, I think we straight people have done more that enough to ruin it thank you. from Pensacola Fl by Iva M.
Comment: I certainly believe this needs to be in our constitution. We need to save the sanctity of one man and one woman unions/marriage. from cantonment by stephanie
Comment: Shame on you for not telling ALL the facts about this bill.It will also affect domesic partnership in heterosexual homes also including domestic violence laws. One of the biggest impacts of this law would affect widowed seniors who have a patner/companion hetrosexual or other wise. from Pensacola by Yvonne
Comment: Homosexuality is an unhealthy lifestyle and should be discouraged which makes the amendment 2 supporting marriage between one man and one woman necessary for the benefit of all. from Pensacola, FL by Melissa
Comment: No. Here we go again. The issue of gay marriage is only being used (again) as a diversion from the real issues--the economy and the war. Don't fall for it. Your vote should not be based on this non-issue. Your real vote will be wasted. from Pensacola by Donna
Comment: No, definately not. I have been with my partner in a committed relationship for almost 26 years. The only difference in our relationship is that we have none of the benefits of a traditional marraige. from Pensacola, FL by Cleo
Comment: Same sex marriages is unhealthy, sinful condemned in The Bible and will bankrupt this country. ANd just think what it will do to our children. from Pensacola_Fl by Lela
Comment: Sure it needs to be on the ballot. Enough is enough. People know its wrong and its time we stood up and fight this kind of crazy stuff that these nuts try to pound in our heads. It is wrong!
by Rita
Comment: We must do all we can to protect the Family. from Pace, Fl 32571 by Ferren
Comment: NO! There is already tooooo much junk in the Florida Constitution . . . like the "pregnan pig" amendment. Enough is enough. from Pensacola, Florida by Dave
Comment: The Bible says that marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman. Enough said! from Crestview, FL by Ernest R.
Comment: i really don't care if gays and lesbians are together and committed to each other for the rest of their lives...but i do believe that the committed act of marriage should be only used if there is a chance of a natural off-spring in the union to carry the family name! adoptions and other artificial sermination does not count! i cannot believe that these highly bias and biggoted folks (and these folks are the worst offenders in the terms of biggotry...) would mock the institution of marriage...! but like a friend of mine said..."lower your expectations if you want to be more happy around here..." sad state of affairs isn't it? from p'cola by h
Comment: No!!! There is already too many good intentioned add-ons that the voting public don't even know about. My point being, whether there is ANOTHER AMENDMENT against same sex marraiges or not; people (right or wrong) are going to do whatever the h--- they want regardless of what the law says. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: To each his own. Who are we to judge from Crestview, Fl by Renardo
Comment: Let's think about our children and what we are allowing to happen in society. Yes can make an impact for those of us in Florida. from Milton/Fl by Maranda
Comment: I don't believe that this is a constitutional issue. The constitution was not drafted for or to deal with this type of matter. I don't believe that there should be a ban set constitutionally or other by law makers. There are other more pertinent and needed items in our government to address than this issue. from Pensacola / FL by Tony
Comment: if same sexes were meant to be together, God would have made 2 men, not Adam and Eve from fwb fl by nancy
Comment: As we all know, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve from Crestview, FL by Dottie
Comment: these people should open the good book and take a read. society has let too many things be accepted in this world. it wrong and immoral. i know were im going when i die. do they????? from pensacola by mike
Comment: Our laws re enacted to
protect and bnefit the majority of citizens. This
majority considers homosexual-
ity morally abhorent. This
majority proposed and shall
vote to accept this amendment.
Americans are asked to swear on the Bible in Court ofLaw,
Government functions, etc. This same Bible condemns homo-
sexuality and considers marriage to be only between a
man and woman. I, as a Florid-
ian accept and tolerate only
that union. from Pensacola, Florida by Robin
Comment: Marriage is a joining of a man and a woman from mary esther, fl by patrick
Comment: I FEEL NO HOMOPHOBIA BELONGS IN THE CONSTITUTION. THERE ARE ALOT MORE SERIOUS PROBLEMS LIKE FLORIDA'S LAW TO KEEP RETAILERS FROM SELLING GAS CHEAPER THAN THEY PAY WHICH IS ANTI CAPITALISM. from fwb fl 32547 by marsha
Comment: NO because it does not have to do with constitutional matters...taxation, public safety, infrastructure and matters of state. It is a personal and/or religious decision best left to the private sector. Keep it out of the constitution. from Niceville, FL by Ed
Comment: I dont believe that there should be a ban on gay marriage, because Marriage is something that just unites 2 people together and 1. We dont believe that it will effect our children of the future no more than a man & a women getting married and then turning around and getting a divorced. Love is what it takes to raise a family. It should not matter if there is one man and one women or 2 men or 2 women, as long as there is love. from Santa Rosa / Florida by Rebecca
Comment: Two men or women being legally married is one sick case.God help this country. from Pensacola, Fla by Leonard
Comment: Not something that belongs in the constitution of any state. from Niceville by Charlie
Comment: I do not agree that this needs to be an issue. I am married to a man legally in Canada, but yet my marriage is not recognized here in the State of Florida, or any State. Yet if I ever want a Divorce, I have to live in Canada for a year to be granted one. If you are straight and marry in a state where the legal age is different than FL, and come to FL, you're still recognized as married, why aren't we. This is supposed to be the land of the Free, but obviously it doesn't mean that for Gay tax paying citizens. from Milton, FL by Phillip
Comment: This is suppose to be the land of the free. Freedom of choice, freedom of religion, freedom of speech; so to make an amendment banning two people who want a life long relationship is unamerican! from Crestview by Lynda
Comment: this is a personal choice and not for government to decide.
it is iike everything else when government want to keep
the people focused on everything but the issues that matter.. seems like this state is moving backwards and more into contro!! so sad by linda
Comment: Yes it is necessary, GOD has already said that it is between A man and A woman, but people will not abide by His word, maybe if we make it unlawful, it will be controlled. from Walnut Hill, Florida by Kenneth
Comment: Most of the people who have commented against gay marriage have done so based on religious beliefs. I thought that this was a nation and state of many beliefs, religions and life styles. It is not illegal to be gay, modern day church and religious leaders are even reexamining how they approach the facts. These beliefs and the people who they belong too, where the same people who burned people at stakes and hung them from trees also. There are discrimination laws that exist in this state and in the USA, that give many people protected class status and protect our many races, gender, sexual orientations and religion. It is always interesting to see one protected class trying to find a legal means to attack another protected group. It seems to me some people are in search of a legal means to approach discrimination again and are just focusing on sexual orientations? If that is the case and it were to pass, then where would the redefinition of discrimination and alienations end and lead us all too? And religions cannot define our laws as well: (The separation of religion and state is in the federal constitution.)There are more than just a couple types of people that make up this world and the things in it that we all have and create.... from Pensacola,FL by Joseph
Comment: The institution of marriage was ordained by God which is one man and one woman. Anything other than that is unnatural. Procreation can only take place between a man and woman. from Pensacola, Fl by Hilda
Comment: The purpose of government should be to protect our freedoms. Banning personal choices in our private lives should not ever be in state or federal constitutions. Constitutions are for protecting our rights and freedoms. from Pensacola, FL by Elizabeth
Comment: I don't personally don't believe in gay marriage but I don't see why we need amendment banning it. People are going to do as they please anyway reguardless of what some law says. from Crestview by Nicole
Comment: Florida already has 4 statues banning same gender relationships being reconginzed by the state. The 2000 US census indicated that of the 360,000 "un-married" committed couples/families only 40,000 were same gender, if this amendment 2 passes it could hurt far more heterossexual senior citizens and public employees once the vaguely worded amendment is broadly interpited as has been the case in other states that have fallen to this "gay marriage" bait and switch. from Navarre, FL by Doug
Comment: I believe that an amendment banning gay marriage is just another example of intolerance and hate fueled by underlying ignorance that is tearing apart the very possibility of unity which we so often professes to desire from Pensacola, Florida by Lisa
Comment: Total support, even animals know there is to be 1 male and 1 female, why is it so hard for some humans to understand this??? from Cantonment, Glorida by Jay
