Comment: the common areas around the beach is not safe any more and these businesses really don't care! As long as they are making money! (they themselves have admitted as such and the bartenders dare not say anything less they get stiffed on the tips!) the lethal mixture of crowds, young drunk or drugged people, heat, and lack of personal responsibility has turned a place to be into a place not to be... what really surprises me is the amount of drunks that leave the beach and the dui arrests have not increased. this being pensacola, 'good ol' boy' system must be set in place by the businesses. law enforcement dare not arrest any of their 'patrons' or they do not get to work off duty for the businesses. if you ever read the who got caught section of the local paper, the amount of dui arrests are pitiful compared to how many are out there on the beach roads this time of the year... from p'cola by h
Comment: Yes. The problem started years ago when they kept running blacks off the beach. We were not fighting then. This was in late 80's & early 90's. Hurricane Ivan tore up the beach & they still don't want us there. It's just like America. We help built it & they still don't want us here. Wake up People! from Pensacola ,Fl by Chirstopher

Comment: I believe that over promotion of the beach has something to do with it. Every excuse to gather large crowds has been done and alcohol is flowing freely, legally and illegally. Although it is totally a different situation, one would recall the Virginia Beach Riots of 1988. Is that where the beach is headed? from Milton, Fl by Abe
Comment: I have been living in Pensacola exactly three years now. I have to say without bias that the Beach is and has developed into a dangerous place. The reason is alchohol consumption and the Beach averting away from being "family based" to "a beach for the college, military leave and young between 18 and 30. I have seen lude behavior on the Boardwalk and the music venues appeal only to a young crowd! The whole feel of the Beach is a non-family meeting place for the young and, restless drinking, using profane language and a growing amount of fights. it also has been a haven for extreme racism and i am caucasioan and have seen this happen frequently. I have been going to Johnson's Beach and Perdido key.
The Beach is full of evil club owners who has tapered the market for the "drunken' crowd for their own register receipts to bolster the economy. I have personally witnessed this as a performing musician and will not play there because of the "out of control" situation and aweful management practices. Most of the Beach watering holes have been having problems lately and the tourists that come here i fear won't come back because of the incidents and lack of control. I say ban alchahol and throw the club owners out of this horrific domestic mess they are responsible for in this whole issue. from Pensacola/Florida by Jim
Comment: Part of the problem is over the past few years, the beach has been promoted as a drinking destination. What do you expect? Just look at all the promotions catering to drinking. The beach is no longer safe late at night and families are opting for safer beaches like Sandestin and points east. from Pensacola Beach FL. by Ronnie
Comment: Yes, the beach is becoming more dangerous, anyone who doubts that has their head in the sand and is likely commanded by the business interests at the beach and/or the County Politicos. I have a place at the beach, and I saw this comming last year; Hoodlums freely walked the boardwalk, even early in the evening passing marijauna blunts between themselves in plain sight at the seashell! Now the increasingly loud music till 2am plus, coupled with what I call an apparant "Do whatever you want at the Beach atitude" by the County and has morphed into beatings, shootings, & drunken driveing everynight of the week.
It is sad and unfortunate!! from Pensacola Beach by Jeff
Comment: Yes, the beach is becoming a little bit dangerous due to alcohol, drugs, high testosterone, stress, lacking of police, and unsupervised minors. Inconsiderate people played a large role also. People need to be more responsible with their actions when they're around other people. Be responsible when you're drinking and doing drugs. I believe if the police will put up a few surveillance cameras, that will help deter people from committing a crime or misbehaving. The beach is a place for us to have fun, relaxing, and worry-free. Let's help each other keep it that way. from Pensacola, FL by Christian
