Comment: First I do not agree with same sex marriage. But most importantly it would take away the rights of those who do not agree. Ministers would eventually be forced to perform marriages they do not agree with. It just opens the door for rights to be stripped away from those who do not agree. by joannie

Comment: In this day and time, legal unions between people of the same sex should not be looked down upon. It's a free country that we live in and part of that freedom should include being able to freely choose who you are happiest living with, even if it is someone of the same sex, and having it recognized. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Rick

Comment: It's a difficult situation to be in, I'm sure, but the bottom line is that it is immoral. By allowing them "privileges" we are condoning an illegal and immoral act. If we allow people to have special privileges because of (or in spite of) an immoral and illegal thing, then we will continue to slide down the immoral slide until we hit a point where we give privileges to child molesters, murders, terrorists! When do we stop “being nice” to those who do wrong?!? from Pensacola, Fl by Beth

Comment: I believe if a person is made to pay taxes, He or she should be able be includes in all rights provided to everyone else. LOVE is LOVE. from Mobile by Ivan

Comment: When God made man, God made Adam and Eve -- not Adam and Steve. This was the first institute of a family. God judged Sodom and Gomorrah for sins liken to and including this. Romans 1:27 says this: "In the same way, their males also abandoned their natural sexual function toward females and burned with lust toward one another. Comment: Marriage is a sacred commitment between one man and one woman, (each of whom were born that way, not following any “sex change” surgery, since that does not really change someone’s sex, just their “equipment.” The DNA still reveals the actual sex of the individual,) before Almighty God. It is He who set the rules for His creation, and we have no business trying to change those rules. from Shalimar/FL by Richard

Comment: I am a heterosexual male, happily married to a wonderful female these past 45 years. I can't imagine how my life or marriage could possibly be affected by allowing homosexual couples the right to marry. Comment: Any citizen should be granted the same rights as every other citizen unless loss of rights has occurred through felony behavior. Every church should have the right to grant or not grant marriage within their individual institutions. The freedom to marry should be guaranteed to all citizens and this issue points out that our forefathers were wise to separate church and state. from Cantonment by Gloria

Comment: Marriage was created by God, and is to be between a man and a woman. GOD created marriage, NOT man, and because he created it, HE set the rules. from Pensacola by P

Comment: God's word says in the last days, men will become lovers of self, as apposed to lovers of God.....and his will! His word also says we will no longer be lovers of truth. Man can only either legistlate moral law that has been in place for thousands of years, or they will legistlate imoral law. There is no in between! We either fear God's judgement or we don't,and if we don't;there will be no one to call on when His righteous judgement comes! Remember Sodom & Gomora??? If we pas this imoral law, what will be the next moral law to fall??? Sex with children? Murder? Long term, where are we going? from Pensacola,FL by James A.

Comment: All men (and women) are created equal . . . as far as being human but there is a vast array of differences genetically speaking. The extensive differences and unlimited combinations of skin color, eye color, hair color, body sizes, etc., help make up the human genome and most Americans are ready and willing to accept those who are different from themselves recognizing their American rights as being equal to their own. But there are those who are not willing to accept the differences of the human race when it comes to individuals who are genetically predisposed to being born homosexual. I do wonder how, once it is finally proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that persons are born either homosexual or heterosexual according to their genetic make up, those who oppose providing all Americans with equal (and birth) rights will respond? What label will they hide behind then other than the label that currently brands them, that of hate and discrimination? ALL AMERICANS SHOULD HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS TO MARRY THE PERSON OF THEIR CHOICE REGARDLESS OF GENETICALLY PREDISPOSED SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS. from Pace, FL by Ed

Comment: I favor the agreement, why not, can't I enter into legal agreements with my friends if I want to? Now same sex marriage I am vehimently against - its going against God. from pensacola, FL by georgia

Comment: As a religious person, I would allow no one to tell me who I can marry or what church I have to attend. As a business owner, I am thankful for the Memorial Day revenue that saves my company every year. I have real problems at the gas station and grocery store paying for food. Land of the free?! I don't think they would agree. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Rick

Comment: I strongly oppose same sex marriages and rights as marriage couples. This is wrong according to Gods word. Marriage should be between a male and female, not two of the same sex. from Pace, FL by Brenda

Comment: I strongly oppose gay/lesbian couples being given the same rights as male/female married couples. Gay/Lesbians should not be able to enter into legal agreements with each other giving them equal rights as married couples. They choose the lifestyle they want so why award them with equal rights as married couples. from Pace, FL by B

Comment: A marriage is a union between a man and woman. from Valparaiso, Fl. by Dorothy

Comment: Gay people don't choose to be gay anymore than staight people choose to be straight. No one should have the right to tell an adult who they can or can't marry. It's call DISCRIMINATION. In the words of the comedienne Wanda Sykes, "If you don't believe in same sex marriage then don't marry somebody of the same sex." from Destin, Florida by Susan

Comment: I oppose same sex marriages in any case simply due to the fact that it is Biblically wrong. Even most secular groups realize this kind of arrangement to be immoral. from Leesville, LA by Leighann

Comment: strongly feel should be allowed. it is a legal issue not a moral issue from pensacola by c

Comment: Jesus never taught for or against homosexuality! This raises the question, if homosexuality truly is a sin worthy of eternal damnation, as some believe it is, then why didn't Jesus discuss it? I don't believe that God has never been concerned about homosexuality, or heterosexuality for that matter. Each are equally part of God’s plan. It is only mankind’s fears and prejudices that have concocted this monstrous imaginary sin, not God. Jesus talked at great length concerning many other issues such as love, mercy, grace, reaching the lost, the ministry of reconciliation, stewardship, and the healing of body, soul and mind. People using the Bible to oppose this issue seem more preoccupied with a subject He never taught about, than about the matters He did. from Crestview, Fl by Sally

Comment: Among other things,a gay relationship is considered an abomination to God who created us. Since He created a man and a woman to become one, then two men or two women cannot become one,nor become anything other than an abomination to the one true God who created them. God loves each and every one of us,but He makes the rules;not man. He will judge us for eternity without a doubt. So who's word are you going to believe? Man's or God's, for both cannot be true unless mans word agrees with His creator. It says in the last days, man will no longer be lovers of truth, but of self. They will also proclaim good as evil and evil as good. The begining of Wisdom is the fear of God! We all know this to be true, but speak lies.....why? To promote lovers of self, instead of lovers of God? from Pensacola by Alan

Comment: Allowing same sex marriage changes the definition of the word 'marriage' completely. Use another word, don't ruin it for the rest of us. How about 'gayrriage' as a contraction for gay-marriage... from Pensacola/Florida by Robert

Comment: Marriage is a legal contract between 2 people. Weather it is done by a licensed agent of the state through a church representative or by a government offical. Our legal rights under the law are part of "separation of church & state" and should stay that way. "Freedom & Justice for all" is part of the preamble to our rights under the founding fathers laws. We have not changed that yet. from Milton by Ted

Comment: Can't have the freedom to provide benefit protection for their families. Can't have the freedom to love who they want. Can't have the freedom to be a couple in view of the public. How can the greatest nation claim to be the land of the free? For who? Does it mean freedom only if you are just like the rest of us? Maybe your question should be "Are we the land of freedom?" from pensacola, Fl by jeremy

Comment: I'm 32 years old. Never been married. Live with a dozen men I call "friends". WHO AM I? A gay man or Jesus? Be careful with your answer..Thou shalt not judge!!!! from pensacola, fl by rick

Comment: The good lord made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!!! from Milton, Florida by Shane

Comment: What's next - marry your goat? from Crestview, FL by Dave

Comment: I don't know what you have done with your picture but for the las week or so, we can't stand watching it! from Ft Walton Beach, FL by Betty

Comment: Many of these couples have spent their lives together and have no benefits for this. On average gay couples do not enter into such decisions lightly and there certainly aren't the situation that you got pregnanty and now must be married. I think that there should be more stipulations put on straight couples who want to get married. The divorce rate may lower if that happens. from Pensacola FL by Megan

Comment: We didnt vote on YOUR marriage. by melinda

Comment: its crazy

Comment: Same sex relationships are an abomination to God, Lev 20:13, Deu 23:17-18, Marriage is ment for one man and one woman only. Regardless of the 51-percent of Americans that favor gay and lesbian marriages, the real question is, what does God say? If those 51 percent would open a Bible and read Romans chapter 1 they would find the answers. from Pensacola by Will

Comment: Live and let live from crestview, fl by Deborah

Comment: it is just plain wrong from milto,fl by mary

Comment: somethings in nature is just not right...this is not right...if they cannot naturally have children...then they should not be parents either! from p'cola by h

Comment: Just about everyday, I thank God for my solid "Christian" up-bringing, in any number of different ways. One of the things I truly believe is that being gay or lesbian is the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain. Much like altzheimer's disease, we don't know enough about the disease to cure it. I see the entire thing as a message from God, reminding us "very strongly" that we (society) is straying too far from God's grace. As to the marraige concept, I am definitely against "legalizing" any part of what I consider a disease that more than likely is curable. The trouble is that there simply isn't enough research done to find out what causes "gay or lesbian" actions. The whole concept of gay or lesbianism is probably as old as the world's oldest profession itself. from Mary Esther, Fl. by Tom

Comment: Marriage is a religious ceremony. How can a court require that religions do something against their beliefs? from Pensacola by Scott

Comment: Why can't we just let them be? from Fort Walton Beach, fl by christina

Comment: I oppose of same sex marriages because its just not right. things today seem to be what ever people want to do they just do it weather it be right or wrong. what has happened to our morals. from cantonment, fl by lisa

Comment: I was a Blue Angel and was honorably discharged due to my sexual orientation. I would like to see that our rights be given just as a heterosexual couple. from Pensacola, FL by Troy

Comment: Anyone wanting to live with the same sex is not normal.Period. End of statement. from Pensacola, Fl by Raymond

Comment: If we legitimize the marriage between homosexuals, we will open the door into legitimizing other perversions such as pedophilla and beastiality . from Pace, Fl by Ashley

Comment: I totally oppose same sex marriages. They only want the same benefits as "normal " people with male to female relationships. Homosexuality is immoral and totally wrong. I place them in the same category as illegal criminal aliens. They should all pay heavily for their crimes against America and against nature. The next thing they will demand is to marry their goat or dog. from Pensacola, Florida by James

Comment: I believe strongly in allowing gay marriage. I think that there are real atrocities in the world that we Americans should be concerned about & that if we really want to be the land of the free then we should embrace gay marriage. What are some people so afraid of? from Pensacola, FL by Marjorie

Comment: There is no rational reason for any two people, who are of legal age and legal U.S. residency, to not be allowed to confirm their love for one another in a binding, legal agreement. People are afraid that it will raise the gay and lesbian population, which is absolutely absurd. They are afraid there will be more births to gays and lesbians. How do they think this is going to happen? We generally live childless or adopt; even if we did have biological children by a donor, that child would have no more chance of being gay or lesbian than a child born to a heterosexual couple. We have the same capacity to love as anyone else, and should be fully allowed to be recognized in this sense. from Pensacola, FL by Leigh

Comment: It is time to give equal rights to all persons and stop denying two people desiring to make the commitment of marriage their rights. by Melissa

Comment: I'm not sure how allowing or disallowing a couple weather straight or gay affects me. I really don't care what they do behind closed doors. If two gay men marry and two gay women marry the financial impact is the same as two straight couples marry. It's not an outside person's business to set these limits. I'm straight and married (to a man, duhh). These gay marriages don't bother me at all. from Pensacola, FL by Marla

Comment: Why not? Straight people can benefit from this as well. No one says you have to have sex to be gay. Imagine the advantage in being able to share health insurance, with your best friend or another household member (regardless of sex). And what's it matter anyway if I want to give my same sex friend the authority to determine issues regarding life and death (vs family)? Is this too much to ask? from Pensacola, FL by Kim

Comment: Oppose Amemdment 2! from Pensacola, FL by Tom

Comment: God,s plan 9dd8is for man and woman to marry not men and men or woman and woman from mobile alabama by scott

Comment: I have been in a realtionship with my partner Brittany for nearly 2 years now. We reside in the same home and have 2 children. But yet we can't get married. There are so many people out there who get married, have kids and are dead beats who don't even love each other. But yet, I am in love and have a wonderful caring family and don't have the right to marry my partner. Things need to change. from Pensacola by Krystal

Comment: God designed marriage for a man and woman! from Pensacola, FL by Danielle

Comment: It is past time to allow these basic rights. from pensacola,fl. by james

Comment: 1.Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural. 2.Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children. 3.Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children. 4.Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful. 5.Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal. 6.Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities. 7.Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America. 8.Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall. 9.Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license. 10.Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children. 11.Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. 12.Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans. 13.Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians. from Pensacola, Fl by Krystal and Brittany

Comment: I think a union would be a better word than marriage. Marriage is a religious arrangement, and most religions ban gay marriages. Also, most States want to be seperated from Church so in legalizing same sex marriages they are stepping into religious opinions not government. What they should do is legalize the unions so that the couples can get the same benefits as a married couple. However, do not call them marriages. from Pensacola, FL by Dorrian

Comment: When was the last time any of you said their Pledge of Allegiance? It doesn't say "liberty and justice only for those considered worthy", it says "liberty and justice for ALL". I honestly don't understand why some people feel so threatened by the thought of gay/lesbian marriage. from Milton, FL by Nicole

Comment: No, marriage can only occur between a man and a woman. from Crestview Florida by Judy
