Comment: I would Support it if it is as Stated!! SUMMER gas tax RELIEF!! Two wks in July doesn't get it, what about all the people vacationing as soon as the kids get out of School?? from Pensacola, FL by Mary Agnes
Comment: I agree with the financial analysts. I believe it's a ploy to win voters, but not a well thought out plan. I believe it will cause more problems than it will fix.
Comment: Quick fixes are not the answer to this problem. I am against most government regulation but in this case I beleive that something must be done. Electric, Natural Gas are regulated, it is time for our elected officials to start listening to the people that put them in office. from pensacola fl by james
Comment: The State is in trouble already, with Budget why make it worse. from Pace, Fl 32571 by Ferren
Comment: The gas tax holiday is a dumb idea. Besides the stated problems, encouraging people to buy more gas only exacerbates the problem. We consume too much energy for little purpose. We are not using research dollars to explore other clean options that do not involve burning anything. Wake up! Pay attention to the whole picture, not some political gimmick! from Pace, FL by C
Comment: Yes I do. I also think the gas companies should put in the difference that the consumer will save so we don't loose any of the money that would go to road repairs. from Crestview, FL by Donna
Comment: I think it would help businesses here to draw in people from other states. But I would not stop there I would if I was President I would open the federal reserves to make the price of gas drop to help the people who are not going to make it. My sister in law makes 9 something an hour and if she did not live with us she could not pay all her bills. from milton FL by Charlene
Comment: To give a Tax Break just for people to go on Vacation is rediculous! How about using some of that money to give to the poor and homeless instead.
Anyone that can afford to go on vacation don't need a Tax break. We need it just to go back and forth to WORK everyday!!!!! from Pensacola, FL by Thomas
Comment: Absoulutely not. With the state of the economy the small individuals gains in pocket change would not out weigh the damage done by the loss of the revenue. from Pensacola, FL by Greg
Comment: I have heard Politicians on both side of the aisle give their opinion on why cutting the gas tax would save each individual very little and why drill in ANWAR would save very little and lastly why releasing oil from the stratic reserve would save very little. my opinion is if they do it all and more it would all add up to a benificial savings for people to whom a dollar or fifty cents a gallon is real money. They should quite play with peoples emotion and get something done. Doing nothing is there stock in trade.
from Pensacola, FL by John
Comment: Of course i support the gas tax holiday! I am tired of making life decisions at the pump! from Cantonment, fl by Brandon
Comment: No to the tax holiday, but have congress remove gas and oil products from the commodity market trading. Let it trade as stock by oil co., but not as a commodity. Other wise rase export prices on wheat or other foods to oil producing countries when gas prices raise. Let the World market cool off the hot prices rising inflicted by trading. from Fort Walton Beach by N
Comment: What they need to do is cut the gas prices in half because the whole thing is a scam by the gas companies to get rich. We did not have any problems when the first war in the gulf area was taking place. if this keeps up noboby will be able to eat or go to work. from Ft. Walton Bch. Fl. by John
Comment: ABSOLUTELY NOT. AREN'T WE IN ENOUGH TROUBLE WITH THE TAX CUT THAT "WE" VOTED FOR THAT TOOK SO MUCH FROM OUR SCHOOLS? WHEN WILL WE LEARN THAT, IF WE DON'T PAY FOR IT, WE CAN'T HAVE IT. OUR SCHOOLS ARE IN BIG TROUBLE. AND WE ARE BECOMING EVEN MORE OF A "ME,ME" SOCIETY. from PENSACOLA by BETTY
Comment: I think the oil companies would just hike their prices up more and make more profit than they are making now. Our roads and highways would suffer disrepair. from pensacola, fl by ronnie
Comment: with all due respect, we know that the price of fuel is going to increase, it is part of life. we need to learn how to increase our level of income.
if we want to value of our hoouse to increase it is right to assume that other things will increase also. from Crestview by David
Comment: I think that McCain and Clinton are offering a short-term "solution" to a long-term problem.
The U.S. should try and find a way to stop purchasing oil from foreign countries and look for resources in the U.S. The oil companies are not going to sit back and lose money, if the tax is omitted, the companies will find a way to make up their losses, and we the people will pay for it! from Pensacola, FL by Teresa
Comment: I could use $25 a month. As for losing tax revenue, perhaps it might be better to cut rates instead of dropping the tax altogether. The cheaper gas is to buy, the more drivers will purchase, which is the real problem for environmentalist wackos, who are more concerned about their precious ozone layer than about the average Joe's pain at the pump. Furthermore, estimates based on average spending are misleading because truckers would save much more. from Pensacola, Fl by Faith
Comment: Yes, I support a gas tax hoiday. I think 1 day everymonth should be a gas tax holiday. Gas is extremely high for this spring. most of the people in the state of florida have to pay car payments and bills everymonth. So, I think there should be a Gas tax holiday.
Thanks:) from pensacola,florida by Dexter
Comment: My opposition is based on the fact that in this world nothing is for free. By that I mean a gas holiday will simply mean that taxes will get increased in some other venue. The idea being that if we didn't have a gas holiday, the consumer would still be missing the money, so why not take advantage of the "tax holiday" and get it while the getting's good. End result, at the end of the summer, we will see increases again and we will still not be satisfied. My vote is that we all learn how to ride bicycles, or re-learn the art of walking. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: Alhough I support this TEMPORAY one, I really would to see see a PERMANENT drop in gas prices. from DeFuniak Springs by Cesare
Comment: We need to raise gas prices if we have this holiday it will cause more and more use of gas which will cause a gas crunch when the tax is over. from pENSACOLA by eDWARD
Comment: A mere droplet in the barrel, it will have minimal, temporary affect. We need new drilling and new refineries.
from Navarre FL by gene
Comment: A gas holiday would be nice, but It wouldn't teach us anything. If the gas has got to be this high in cost then we need to learn to budget our finances around the high price...not around the lower price and then get hit in the fall with higher prices again from pensacola, FL by georgia
Comment: I don't believe we would save any money after the first few days. The price would adjust to the demand anyway. from Crestview, FL by Tom
Comment: If it is possible to suspend/reduce the gas tax without harming road/bridge infrastructure, then it can be suspended/reduced permanently. from Molino, Fl by Gene
Comment: I don't think it would that big of a benefit and we would probably end of with a gas shortage because everyone would try to keep their tanks full and fill up every chance they get. There needs to be a long term solution on the table not just a short "fix". It feels as though the oil industry has a monopoly and it is down right price gouging. It needs to be looked at from the top end instead of the bottom end of the problem. from Pensacola, FL by Pam
Comment: It's not a sulution, just a way to make the tourist industry happy. Let's fix the problem not make it look better than it is. from Pns by Al
