ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
ORIOLE BEACH ELEMENTARY - She was a military wife for 30 years, a mother of five and she held a full-time job.
Her hectic schedule didn't leave much time for anything else and she knew other parents were stepping in for her.
Now, Marilyn Hamblin is saying thank you...Like an Angel in our Midst.
Voice of Marilyn Hamblin; When my children were growing up, I worked and I wasn't always able to help at schools and I know somebody else was doing it because I couldn't be there.
For the past eight years, Marilyn Hamblin has been repaying the favor. She volunteers at her grandchildren's school, Oriole Beach Elementary and she's paying back with dividends.
Mary McMahon, Oriole Beach Media Specialist; She's here five days a week and sometimes six or seven if we have something special on the weekends. She doesn't have a key to the front door, she probably should.
Especially when she's still at school at 1:30 in the morning putting the finishing touches on a bulletin board or prepping for an event. There's not much she doesn't do...From PTO treasurer, to library assistant, to managing a science lab, to playing Mrs. Claus, to actually teaching .
Bayleigh Critchfield, Second Grader; She's just a really nice person.
She helps out finding books for people and she always checks out my books.
Tristan Downey, First Grader; She's fun and creative and I would vote her the best children's activities person of the year.
Marilyn; Erase the number. You have to put the letter there, put the "letter" there.
For all that she does at Oriole Beach, it is the simplest of things that touches the children the most; one little thing she remembers....

Marilyn; Justin, have you got it? Caitlin....
Mary; Knowing the children's names, being personally connected to them.
Marilyn Hamblin, Paying Back Volunteer Time; I try to work real hard at that. I think that's important; that they know that they're important to me.
Chloe Stagner, Second Grader; She always says something nice, like, Hey, how was your day or are you having fun in class. That always makes me feel really happy.
At the end of the day, her very long days, that's all that really matters.
Marilyn; For the children to know that I cared; I cared about them.
Mary; A for Angels, being Always here and always helping.
N means she never says, No.
G she goes the whole nine yards and more
E she has energy galore
and L is that she loves everyone and all of us love her.
