ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
ESCAMBIA COUNTY - (Junior Humane Society ) They have seen the community's generosity when it comes to helping children and people in need.
They weren't so sure how they would respond to four-legged friends.
Still, the call went out to the angels in our midst.

We're asking the community to help us help the animals here to lessen their suffering and to lessen their stress level.
That was the appeal from the Junior Humane Society just one week ago. They asked the public to help them buy Kuranda pet beds for the Escambia County Animal Shelter.
Right now, whether it's 100-plus degrees in the summer or below freezing in the winter, the animals sleep on concrete floors. Towels and blankets are sometimes used to try to make them more comfortable, but those items harbor diseases.

Their ambitious goal was to cover about half the kennels at the shelter. It was a tall order but they had to try... For the animals.
So, how generous were you?
Christa; We've collected 100 beds so far. It's absolutely wonderful to see that people not only care for each but for the animals.
Angels in our Midst is brought to you by Sacred Heart Children's Hospital.
With the tremendous support so far, the Junior Humane Society now thinks beds for the remaining 100 kennels could be possible.
The Kuranda beds are ordered on line at a site designated just for Escambia County donations.
The beds are shipped directly to the shelter in the donor's name.

The beds range in price from 48 to 56 dollars.
