ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
When she donned her habit 55 years ago, Sister Elizabeth Mary Knight knew that her calling was in education.
It couldn't be better. It couldn't be better. For me, I love it and when you love it, you're happy.
The past 17 of those happy years she has served as principal at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
Cooper Dulion, Prek Student; She do a lot of nice things for us.
Claire Escobedo, 13 years old; She's the kind of person who would really listen to you and she would really tell you what she thought. And she doesn't just ignore you because you're a kid. She really talks to you.
And lest we're fooled by her stature and sweet demeanor; well, we've all heard the stories about the sisters.
Sister Elizabeth; Sacred Heart School Principal; We're hard on them but that's what they're here for. You try to teach them and teach them the responsibility.
Claire; She's kind of right in between really discipline and strict and really nice and sweet. I think it's a good balance.
Even the youngest students have great respect for sister elizabeth. They watch her every move.
Cooper Dulion, Prek Student; She comes up to the church and she lines up with the other teachers. She gives food out to them. Those little uhmmm; what are they called? Communion."
Recovering from two major surgeries, her bosses want her to step back from the rigors of running a school; a hard assignment for her, but ...
"I'm in the army now, o.k. So, I got my orders."
Claire; I am sad that she's leaving because she's such a fun, happy spirit in this school.
Everyone agrees it will be sad when Sister Elizabeth leaves at the end of the year. What she's taught and modeled through her life, she hopes will stay with her children.
These are the kinds of values we want them to go out and live with.
Angels in our Midst is brought to you by Sacred Heart Children's Hospital.
