82 year old Elizabeth Willis is at the head of Ms. Phillips' second grade class at Longleaf Elementary. She's been a foster grandparent here for nine years.
Rondale Weaden, Gets help from Grandma Willis; She helps us read and take a test and pass it.
Hanna Pogue; Grateful for Grandma's help; Well, I read to her and I do tests with her and mostly everything.
She uses a grandma's wisdom to keep the children encouraged. She tells them where all this learning will them.
Elizabeth Willis. Foster Grandparent; A better life, a better life. To keep on so they can be whatever they want to be if they only try.
Her timeless mother wit comes in handy for little things ...
Tie your shoes and wipe your face.
And when the children are, well, being children.
Grandma Willis; Do you do that at home? I say, I know your mother don't like it.
Hanna; Well, whenever I want to talk to somebody, I can talk to her about something.
And by the time Grandma Willis gets through "counseling" ....
Hanna; She just helps us and then we get along.
As for how long she'll travel these halls; she leaves a hint every day.
