ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
Betty Wasson; "I said, you know, I'd love to go to Dublin with you next year but I could never do a marathon."
Andy; "She did."
Over the past 11 years, Andy has motivated more than 100 trainees to conquer the 26.2 miles at points around the globe.
Paula Shell, Conquered the Miles; "My very first marathon. I'm not a runner. I'm a walker but I'm a very fast paced walker. He walked with me the whole way. You know, he was right beside me and encouraged me."
Andy Williams, Joints In Motion Motivator; "I love getting people to realize they can do more than they think they can. I like to get people to believe in themselves."
Paula; "I went to Honolulu by myself. I just stepped out of my comfort zone. And actually, I was probably about mile 19, and I did have my cellphone with me, and I pick up the phone and it was Andy."
That's just the kind of "nice" thing Andy does. He puts others ahead of himself and it's not something he even thinks about.
Betty Wasson; "There was a young lady that went into cramps in her legs. We were climbing this huge hill. And he stopped and helped her. And I said, you know, no one who's really competing and didn't care, other than crossing the finish line, would never had done that.
Andy; "It's the little things that you can do to help people. It's not for me, it's for them."
His encouragement has pushed his trainees to raise more than a half million dollars for prevention, control and a cure for arthritis.
The confidence Andy has inspired; that's something you can't put a dollar figure on.
Paula; "I don't think I could have done it if it hadn't been for him."
Betty; "It was the most exciting thing in my life really; other than having my children."
Andy; "They look back and they say, Well, I did that. Then they and I can say, Good."
