Updated: Saturday, July 12 2014, 07:28 PM CDT
The Texas teenager who was the only survivor of a shooting that killed her family spoke out for the first time since the shooting.

Fifteen-year-old Cassidy Stay joined friends and neighbors at a memorial in Spring, Texas this morning.

Balloons were released for the six victims of Wednesday's shooting.

The teen spoke to the crowd and thanked them for their support.

"I know that my mom, dad, Bryan, Emily, Becca and Zach are in a much better place and that I'll be able to see them again one day.  Thank you all for coming and showing your support for me and my family.  Stay strong", said Stay.

Ronald Lee Haskell is accused of shooting Cassidy's parents and siblings "execution style."

He is charged with capital murder.

Cassidy Stay suffered a skull fracture and lost part of a finger in the shooting.

She says she survived by playing dead, and then called 911 after the gunman left.Sole survivor of family shot in Texas speaks
