There will be no recount in the District 2 race for Santa Rosa County Commissioner between Bob Cole and Jim Melvin.

Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections Tappie Villane says the first unofficial results from Monday's election show the candidates were .5% apart, with Cole narrowly winning.

But when the provisional ballots were counted the margin increased to more than .5% . Under state law a margin of .5% or less is required to trigger a recount.

The canvassing board will meet again Tuesday to certify the results and send them to the state.

Channel Three spoke to Jim Melvin and he says it's been an honor to serve as District 4 Commissioner and he accepts the results.
