There will be no recount in the District 2 race for Santa Rosa County Commissioner between Bob Cole and Jim Melvin .

Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections Tappie Vaillane says the first unofficial results  from Tuesday's election shows the candidates were .5% apart, with Cole narrowly winning .

But when the provisional ballots were counted the margin increased even more and is now more  than .5% . Under state law a margin of .5% or less is required to trigger a recount.

The canvassing board will meet again Tuesday to certify the results and send them to the state.  Jim Melvin says it's been an  honor to serve but accepts the results.
