Four Escambia County teachers try to appeal law

Updated: Monday, June 23 2014, 09:19 AM CDT
Some Florida teachers, four from Escambia County, are appealing a law tying teacher evaluations and pay to standardized testing.

Last month, a federal judge concluded the 2011 law was unfair but said there was no legal reason to overturn it.

Florida's Teacher Union is now filing an appeal with a federal appeals court in Atlanta.

Governor Charlie Crist vetoed the measure in 2010, but Governor Rick Scott approved it the following year.

The Escambia Education Association is also a plaintiff in the case.
