Attracting High Tech jobs in the area

Updated: Thursday, July 17 2014, 06:44 PM CDT
One key to attracting those high-tech jobs is to have a workforce to fill them.

Today, the Greater Pensacola Chamber released the results of a study on what needs to be done to build that workforce.
They focused on two industries - Information Technology and Advanced Manufacturing.
They picked those industries because they pay really well and because they require specialized knowledge, if the region doesn't have skilled workers, companies that move here could risk a labor shortage.
One of the key findings in both IT and manufacturing is that workers need to be cross-trained in a variety of skills.
The report also lists several occupations that will be in high demand over the next few years including Computer Engineering, Computer Repair and Maintenance, Aircraft Mechanics, Civil Engineering, and Machinery Installation and Repair.Attracting High Tech jobs in the area
