30 year anniversary of Minimum Age Drinking Act

Updated: Wednesday, July 16 2014, 05:35 AM CDT
It's been 30 years since the legal drinking age was upped to 21.

On July 16, 1984, President Reagan signed the Minimum Age Drinking Act into law.

The act was based on a study that said by 21, the brain is better developed to make important decisions.

30 years later, it's unclear if the law has had a positive impact on teen drinking.

Some scientists believe the law actually makes drinking more appealing to teens.
