Government Shutdown goes in to 2nd week

Updated: Thursday, October 10 2013, 03:19 PM CDT
The government shutdown  is now on day 7 and both sides are still bitterly divided and no end in sight.

President Obama cancelled his trip to Asia this week so he could stay in town to deal with the impasse.
Today he visited the Federal Emergency Management Association.
FEMA is one of the many agencies impacted by the shutdown.
80 % of it's workers are furloughed.
The president thanked the Federal Emergency Management Agency employees for their hard work during the last week despite not having full staffing.
And he again pleaded with House Republicans to vote to open the entire government.

Truth is there are enough votes to end this shutdown immediately. House should hold that. Vote today. Just vote -- let every member vote their conscience. Speaker Boehner should prove it.
House Speaker John Boehner claims there are not enough votes to pass a bill to open the government that does not include changes to Obamacare.
