Gulf coasts yards are struggling this season.
First way too much rain, and lately not enough.
   
Now, a pest has emerged.
Channel Three's Kathryn Daniel finds out more for us in today's Dayside Garden.

Ground pearls are scale insects that attack grass, primarily centipede

The lay eggs in the spring
The crawlers or nymphs attach themselves to the roots of grass and suck the juice out

Causes stress to the grass like poor color and vigor

No chemical or biological control will help
Proper maintenance such as watering fertilizing and mowing
