ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The color pink is everywhere.
One local Breast Cancer Survivor is certainly "thinking pink" -- but she's also dreaming of shades of *Bridal White*.

Cherri Lyday was engaged for one wonderful week before she got the news.
At  age 32 -- she had a rare, aggressive and often deadly form of breast cancer.

Fiancé Anthony did not falter.
"He's amazing.  He's just been my rock through this whole entire thing.  I'm so blessed to have him in my life."

Major rounds of chemo, radiation and a double mastectomy have filled the last year.
Dark, hard times, Anthony insisted on setting a wedding date.

His strategy -- give her something fun to look forward to.
She'd daydream about this day during treatment.
"A couple more months I'll be looking at wedding dresses and trying on head pieces and hopefully my hair will grow back."

It did -- and here she is.
With a clean bill of health -- and a gorgeous gown ....her only concern -- A certain adorable Flower Girl who may steal the show.

Cherri's son from a previous marriage will be her ring bearer and don't forget the other major player the mother of the bride.

"She's the best grandmother I could have for my son and I couldn't ask for a better mom."
"Doesn't matter what she wears, she look gorgeous."

Sally Kisor is the Matriarch of Cherri's large, close family -- she says more important than being beautiful -- Cherrie looks healthy.

"So happy and grateful that she make through it.  All the doctors and all the friends we have that rooting for her, I was just so blessed."

David's Bridal Consultant Cherri Wright says our Cherri is the Anti-Bridezilla -- she's fun and easy to please.

The only problem -- every dress looks great on her.
"Come through it on the best end of it and being able to make her dreams come true and just be a part of her journey, that means a lot to us."

David's has a tradition that when a bride finds her gown -- she rings a bell and makes a wish.
Cherri says hers have already come true.  She and Anthony have made it together  through the "in sickness" part. time for health and happiness.

"I just get chocked up just thinking about it.  I love him so much.  I know he loves me.  He's always gonna be there by my side."

Cherri's barely out of treatment but is already giving back.
She's joined the local "Krewe de Ya-Yas"  a local group of ladies who raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

The Ya-Yas are putting on their first "I pink I can" Charity Run this Sunday at the Flora-Bama Lounge on Perdido Key.

Organizers are keeping an eye on the weather and are expecting to make a final decision Friday.-  Buddy Check 3 - (Cherri Lyday)
