PENSACOLA - Sometimes things happen to derail our best made plans.
That could have been the case with Ryan Carlson but he was determined to fulfill the promise of an Angel in our Midst.

Ryan;  "We just try to make it something as real as possible.  Just on a smaller scale.  We don't want to just throw something together that's left over this, that and the other.  We try to put the real deal into it and give it all we can."

Contractor Ryan Carlson was indeed giving it his all during this interview three weeks ago.
We knew that Ryan was really sick; it took all of his strength just to sit, but he'd made a commitment that he was determined to keep.

Tracey McMackin, Exit Realty;  "We are building a girl's playhouse and a boy's fort."
Ryan had promised the team from Exit Realty that he would build that playhouse and fort in time for an auction to raise money for Communities Caring at Christmas.

Arleen Montford, Exit Realty;  "He couldn't stand up for more than a few minutes at a time before he would have to sit down because he'd faint.  But, he was faithful to see the project through."

Ryan kept his crew on the job and oversaw the project like he would for any paying contract.  And the end results were just the same.  The fort is all ready for stakeouts, hideouts and even camp outs with friends.

And the playhouse is any little girl's dream house.  From the pink vinyl siding to the real hardwood floors.  Given his health, there might have been some questions about the project getting done and with such detail.

Arleen;  "Absolutely not.  I would have been surprised if he hadn't.  Ryan's got one of the biggest heart's I've ever seen."

And when it was all about children, it just made it that much better.
They've only recently gotten Ryan's actual diagnosis and the prayers are that he will come through better than ever and ready for the next project for the children.

Arleen;  "We've got great hope for him and we're expecting a full recovery.  It's going to take some time but I think Ryan's going to be fine."
