Angels In Our Midst (Elizabeth Fleischhauer)

Even on a cool, damp and dreary afternoon, the Christmas bells sang through the air.

Like today, I mean, it's not the best weather but something that has to be done. But, I still don't mind. I mean, it's only for two hours, so, just a little piece of my day.

Elizabeth Fleischhauer started giving a little piece of her day to the Salvation Army four years ago when she was in high school.

Thank You. Merry Christmas.

"It's just something I associate with the holidays and it's a good way to get in the Christmas spirit."

This year, she brought her brother along and David showed up with his sister's Christmas spirit in tow.

David; "The weather's not that big a deal. We're under an awning, so. It's a little bit cold, but that's fine."

"Thank you. Merry Christmas."

This money will support the Salvation Army's mission throughout the year. It will help a senior keep their lights on, provide prescription medicine for a sick child, give shelter to the homeless and comfort to all in times of disaster.

"It's a good cause. It's not too hard to donate to and I think most people are willing to help out."

Elizabeth is now a junior at a Miami University majoring in architecture. There's a lot she could be doing on a holiday break but she says, nothing more important than this.

Bell ringing.

"They send you a letter for each shift you signed up for letting you know how much money you raised. So, you know your impact on the community."

Making that difference in their little corner of the world makes the sacrifice of a little time, no sacrifice at all. Even on Christmas Eve.

"It's the busiest time of the year for the mall so it's going to be the most impact when we're sitting here bell ringing. So, it's the best time arguably. That's what's important."

"Thank you. Have a Merry Christmas."

"You too. Just keep ringing."

They will.Angels In Our Midst (Elizabeth Fleischhauer)
