Weather Alert

On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure likely heading toward the Texas/Mexico border.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea that may become another depression though chances are low.

This is Hope over here.

This is Harmony.

Here's Treasure.

And there's Christina.

And there's Promise.

And here's I'm So Sharp.

These are Debbie Trocki's six children. She loves horses but hadn't planned to add to that number.

And then, we have Scam.

Come on. Come on, pretty girl.

Scam belonged to the woman who opened her stables to Debbie when she moved to Pensacola 22 years ago.

She was a great equine person. She would teach, she would ride, she would drive. She had Juvenile Diabetes. She died when she was 40 years d.

When Lauren died 12 years ago, her horses ended up in different homes. Scam did not fare well.

She's been hit in the face.

Everywhere, clear evidence of abuse and neglect.

I know Lauren would be just rolling in her grave to know that her horse ended up at Frisco City auction and they couldn't even get $95 for her.

The Panhandle Equine Rescue Group got Scam's owner to turn her over to them. When Debbie heard, she had to return the decades old favor.

We've got the rain rot, some of it out.

But, she's still has a whole lot to do.

Just good food and good care will help her a lot.

She took Scam in to foster her back to health.

Diane Lowery, Panhandle Equine Rescue; Without people like Debbie, we couldn't do what we do. We rely on our foster homes. Whenever she took Scam, that opened up another slot for us to go out and help another.

I'm just a foster home, you know, and I'm hoping Scam can find a home that they're going to love to have her and just use her real lightly.

Debbie's doing a great job with her. And in the spring, you're not going to know this horse. She's going to be sleek and shiny and fat.

Debbie says if her foster parenting becomes long term and she ends up an adoptive parent, Lauren will have the last laugh.

I got you. You said you're not going to have another horse and you've got one. I scammed you.Angels In Our Midst (Debbie Trocki)
