ESCAMBIA COUNTY  -  A special longtime service dog is hanging up her work leash -- and ambling into retirement.

"Georgia" -- Sacred Heart Hospital's head pet therapy dog made her final visit to the Children's Hospital this morning.

The Corgi's made hundreds of visits to the kids there over her 13 years of volunteering.
Betsy Daniels is Georgia's owner .

Back when Georgia was just a puppy -- Betsy spent a year getting the dog trained and certified to visit medical facilities.

Sacred Heart Doctor Robert Patterson is Georgia's biggest fan.
"She has been the best part of some children's worst days ever and that is miraculous."
"A real treat for us to visit the kids and feel like we could make their day a little bit brighter when they weren't feeling well and it's just been wonderful."

Daniels helped found the Therapaws program at Sacred Heart  through the Five Flags Dog Training Club.
