Local woman dies from flu after giving birth

The community is mourning the loss of a new mother who died after getting the flu and giving birth to her child.

Kendra Fendt developed the flu several weeks ago while she was pregnant and doctors took the baby before full term.
    Fendt was airlifted to UAB hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
        But Kendra died on Thursday.
   
Kendra graduated  from the University of West Florida and was a marketing coordinator at Saltmarsh.
    She leaves behind her husband, Ed Fendt, and newborn daughter Meredith.Local woman dies from flu after giving birth

Flu Signs and Symptoms

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:

FLU VS. COMMON COLD

Flu Symptoms (more intense than common cold):

  • Fever 
  • Body aches
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Dry cough are more common and intense
  • Chills
  • HeadachesCommon


Cold Symptoms:  
  • Stuffy/runny nose
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever is rare
  • Slight body aches
  • Mild fatigue
