FDA Warning on prescription drugs with acetaminophen

Updated: Friday, January 24 2014, 09:02 AM CST
A new warning from the FDA over prescription drugs with acetaminophen.
The Food and Drug Administration says prescription drugs-- with more than 325 milligrams--of acetaminophen could cause liver damage.

The agency also says the risks could outweigh the benefits--for liver injury.

Acetaminophen is often used in combination with pain killers like oxycodone, hydrocodone and codeine.

The warning does not apply to over-the-counter drugs such as Tylenol.

Tylenol contains acetaminophen....
But the FDA says it plans on addressing over-the-counter products at another time.
